We're pretty much on the same team, here. I meant to respond to another of your posts from another thread, too.
I could not disagree more!!
It's past time to clean house and vote in new leadership.

Membership
I am beginning to wonder if Agency Shop was a bad thing. Without the threat of loss of membership, this MEC just continues to do what THEY want instead of what WE want.
Somebody, please....what do we need to do to get some LEADERSHIP around here?

Sorry, I just was playing the devil's advocate for them. You are right every big decision they have made in the last year sucks. Either make them step down or shave off the stupid moustaches, grow some nads and make a stand against the reduction of BLG...Or maybe I am wrong and we do not know what is good for us and should have it decided for us again.

Coming soon from a MEC near you!!!
In the interest of the crew force and the company the MEC has approved a LOA to mitigate the BLG reduction. The MEC has determined it is in the FedEx Pilot's best interest to approve contract relief to company allowing them to involuntary displace junior crewmembers to a FDA. This is in the best intrest of the "senior" crew force, but do not worry. The entire MEC anticipate the FDA's will go senior so this will be a non player.

EXACTLY!!!!
And here all this time I thought it would be the company who would come to us and ask us for some relief. It is enraging to think that our MEC would ask for something like this, but seeing how they really lead from the front, I almost expect nothing less. I guess we'll see.
P.S.--Yeah, I get the guy was joking in the above post.

Agency Shop is not a bad thing. You might not like it because you don't like what the MEC did. But if we didn't have it you'd be amazed how few members we would have. Everyone and their brother would be one item (or made up item) non-members.
No matter who is in charge in the union, there will always be some who don't like what they do. And everyone will not like something sometime.

All I have to say is that if this union sells out the freshman to preserve the seniors when there is an option to retain all the parties involved - you'll see a massive increase in non-membership. When you look at freshmen becoming non-members (I have to review the CBA to see if they have that right) the loss of revenue for the union is more substantial than the loss of the senior's BLG reduction.
Sell out the little guys and you'll only do exactly what upper management wants you to do.....divide the pilot group so that the next CBA goes the way management wants it to go. Don't play into this hand my friends...stay unified - GET UNIFIED - and deliver one consistent message. (Now THERE's an idea....)

Yep - and this is where FDX ALPA screwed up. They thought that agency shop (everyone pays dues!) meant that they could speak with one strong, unified voice. If they actually voiced the opinions of the crew force, this would be true.
But they have chosen to ignore the opinions of the majority, and thus have weakened their position. Management reads these boards and hears the same griping on the crew bus that we all do.
The crew force is divided - we know it and management knows it. Why doesn't FDX ALPA act like they know it?
They could pick one issue (block hour capture or protection after a first-leg deviation deadhead) and rally the troops yet they choose to pound our faces in about how much smarter they are than us.
Hey ALPA! The membership is unhappy, and DW telling us that the way to fix it is to elect people who will vote out the MEC doesn't constitute "leadership" unless you are in some commie dictatorship. Oh, wait...
