Short Notice Hub Turn Meeting : Info??

We are not overmanned because of Age 65.
We are overmanned as a result of our new contract and the optimizer
While we may be misaligned per seat as a result of age 65, the company always lags in hiring.
The new CBA has created new efficiencies for the company. Specifically in the way training is scheduled and the lifting of the open time black out window.
The optimizer is running rampant. A direct result of this:
Thanks BC

Dear SIG/PSIT Member:
During the course of negotiations, we discussed the desire of the company to vary pairings and trip sequences with less emphasis on city purity and deadhead commonality in both pairing and line construction.
Both parties acknowledged that the Company already has the ability, under the current SIG side letter, to institute change in this area.
While the existence and maintenance of pairing and flight line construction with features of city purity and deadhead commonality continues to be a desirable solution for some domestic pairings, the parties recognize that in the changing business environment, city purity and deadhead commonality should not be used to stop change or frustrate building lines within acceptable financial and operational parameters. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either of us.

I don't know if DW can just agree to it without a vote from us, but I doubt it. It does look like after hearing DW's comments from last night, he will put the hard sell on the 68 percenters to allow it to happen though.
They cannot without a vote. It would be an amendment to the CBA.
BTW - First post, longtime lurker and enjoy the dialogue. Still figuring out the admin stuff.

So, my friends, there will be no vote, no appeal, no nothing. All the company has to do is overman the airline either synthetically or actually due to 65, and presto, they now can control the cost of the CBA by lowering BLG's.
And you thought the QOL due to the optimizer would be bad, just wait.

The sky isn't falling. We are just being bamboozled by the company and the union leadership is falling for it. This is the same line of crap that all the majors used to wipe out retirements and contracts. FedEx is a money making machine.... F the union and company scare tatics!
Have a drink and when you wake up tomorrow FedEx will still be making Billions a month. I will be deadheading home from CDG having my drink and forgetting all the panic... join me.

I believe that you are right. I think that if it is a "change to our condition of employment" or something like that, then it requires a vote by the pilots. Otherwise, a vote by the MEC is sufficient.
Welcome to hell.

I guess, head home tomorrow. Figures they send me home right after I hit 200%.
I don't know how guys are going to afford to live over here. We haven't had a dinner yet (for 3) under 100 euros. We haven't been drinking either (stby)
Get back to your domestic work/grind.

Reduce BLG/Furlough
DW said at the meeting last night the company also has the option per the CBA to offer early retirements and prevent furloughs. The Union was going to approach the company in the near future with this idea.
It was also interesting to hear a senior Flying Tiger pilot say the company should furlough the junior pilots to protect his income. He was upset with the BLG being at 85 hours/5 week bid month when at this time last year he was getting 92 hours. This same pilot paid his dues at FT with a couple of furloughs.

FWIW,
Ground school today, they asked some of the same type of questions, fda, blg, etc. (O was not present) Answers from the management rep for the BLG reductions, they are looking at about three hours of blg(some of us suggested the elimination of carryover, especially the reserve lines, and possible bid month starting on Sunday vice Monday. Talk about the bid and canx, was to hopefully get some of the over 60 crowd to the seats that are undermanned(Mem11 is one he said) and fill some of the FDA. I really think that is wishfull thinking....but we'll see. There was no mention of 777's being late, nor was there any mention on a plan to get the folks trained in the 75...basically the domicile is going to open(which lead me to wonder if all of these guys are going to get trained by someone else until this gets ironed out)
