I wonder who is going to pick up all of the extra work in lieu of a sudden vacancy by DHL in North America?

Wells Fargo was doing OK until that darn Geronimo started kicking up a fuss!

Just speaking as a consumer now getting rid of DHL would be doing a lot of people a favor.

As a long time employee of DHL (old DHL Airways to Astar 20+ years) I have read time and time again the industry "analyst" saying bail out, go away, UPS and Fedex are just to big to compete against.

Admittedly DHL has it's problems in the US market, but a complete shut down is not in the works, just a restructuring.

"New calls for DHL withdrawl from North America"

Does that mean no service down south?

FBC, I know how much you root for the demise of other cargo outfits, but it looks like DHL isn't taking this analyst's advice:

A pretty good way to compete with the Kinko's/UPS Store sites. If they could expand beyond Walgreens to other big retail outlets, maybe they could make some inroads. But it does seem like FedEx/UPS/DHL are fighting over a shrinking pie in the U.S. And I'm sorry to admit that I'm sending some important documents today and I don't trust DHL, I'll use one of the others.

DHL's number 1 problem, which they can't seem to get out of their German heads, is subcontracted delivery drivers and no unified, company-owned airline.

I understand FedEx has some indep. contractors, but I'm pretty sure that's mostly for ground shipping?

IMHO they should've done like FedEx did with Flying Tigers, and bought ABX & Astar outright, and instead of contracting Billy Bob local with his minivan, they should have company-owned fleet vehicles and drivers doing the doorfront delivery. You can't have an efficient express delivery system unless everything is integrated top down....duh.
