I tend to keep good personal notes on what happens on trips with people like that.. just in case I'm asked about something important... on the side of the table with no glass of water.

How do you know there isn't any glass of water on that side of the table?

I might want to clarify. When I said "...you, if you fly with her, are exactly the person who should be passing such judgement.", the 'you' was meant collectively as any crewmember flying with this person. It was not meant to single out you, alone, and no one else. We, better than anyone, know the 99% that 'have it', and the 1% that just does not (maybe in 5000 pilots that is more like 99.5% and .5%).

I heard one too many times "...lets just hope they never fly together...".

It's still being said.

It was a shame when they got rid of the Negative Airman list.

Boy, isn't that the truth! What a great tool that was. I know of no other way of identifying those who are quirky and nonstandard on every flight, then clean up and become exemplary on their line check and annual recurrent training.

I wonder if we could start that thing back up on the ALPA website? Just a thought. Then maybe professional standards could use it.

Interesting story how the negative airman list went away, though...someone at this company needs to write a book about the last 20 years from a personal pilot perspective, not a business one...

Never worked on the MD-11 since FOs and Capt have different line numbers. But you can do your own negative airman list as an FO since FOs bid the day after CAPs. They can just exclude the lines with trips their "favorite" CAPs have on their line. It worked for me for years bidding around my "favorite" CAP and ACP, C "Hey , don't you know who I am? I was an AA at UT and a Blue Angel" W!

That is one of the benefits of having f/o's and s/o's bidding a day after the captain bids are awarded. So now if you find yourself flying with your "favorite" captain, it's most probably your fault, unless of course he (or she) got it on VTO or reserve. Oh well.
