FDX pilots stood together?

FDX pilots stood together?
I've never heard of it happening before but DW says EVERY 757 instructor quit. I didn't think we could stand up to the company in any situatiion. Wow! And they were schoolhouse boys to boot.

Folks will stick together when it is in their economic best interests...
They did not vote with their feet on the LOA...
They returned to the line in the training department.
The union has lost a little faith because guys fly DPs (wrong) and bid Subic even though they were discouraged from doing it. Why? Guys make money when they fly DPs, and they got some good tax breaks and upgrades when they went to Subic. In other words--if it makes guys money--they'll do it. If it robs them...they won't. Figuring out if you have "leverage" or not simply means figuring out if it helps the individual or not. If it doesn't....guess what--you've got some leverage available.

When you say "quit" I think you may be reading more into it than is there. I would say we have a bunch of guys typed in the 75 who chose not to take the "conditions" as offered by the company at the time. They're probably still interested in administering a new program, just under different terms, to be determined. What a mess.

Think 1995 ALPA 1: "Subic places a crewmember outside the scope of the RLA" (paraphrased)

And in hind sight we had "leverage" in the LOA negogiations.
All the FO seats didn't fill even with the small beenies of the LOA....how many less would have filled with just the section 6 option?
How many Capt seats would have filled w/out the LOA?
I've always thought the company would fill the FDAs with new hire FOs if they didn't attract enough pilots; however, I'm not sure they would have done that for the Capt positions.
Bottom lines, we can exert leverage guys --- even when we are not in contract negogiations.
Hat's off to the 757 instructors for standing their ground.
