Also, I'm pretty sure JL, and all others at the decision making level, did not have some inside info and know this was coming quite as quickly, and in the way, that it happened.

As far as I know, a pilot doesn't bid anything until there is a posting. However, pilots change seats and flight status all the time, due to medical conditions, training issues, hardship, etc. Clearly, not a bid, and like Jetjok said, his standing bid never changed, so he never bid to leave the seat he was in.
One thing is for sure: we aren't going to get to decide this. Some big city lawyers wearing $1500 suits and smoking Cubanos are gonna laugh all the way to the bank when the lawsuits start flying over this.

"Most of the chatter i see is from "younger" folks acting like something was taken FROM them BY the "older" folks. I suspect all the pilots that were in favor, combined, had very little influence in the decision to construct this legislation.
But anyway, like I said, good luck with all that, glad it's not happening with such ugliness at our place.

What is a bid if not a choice? The fact that the CBA says the company will "accommodate" a pilot going to the S/O position at the regulated age is, in effect, a bid; or more precisely, a choice on the part of the pilot.

I'm not appologizing for anything I posted before. What's your point? I'm getting screwd to the tune of 3-4 years at a stupid low pay rate. Because a bunch of stupid old men managed to pay off Congress and Dubya, who is cheaper than a fried chicken quarter? That disgusting bill passed only because a bunch of disgusting ugly old men spent money to have it passed. They then grossed a HUGE pay day- ill-gotten gains all of it. Think they cared? Hell NO!
