Question FDX - 65 year old Capt/FOs training to 727 SOs in Dec 2012?

When will our last 727 leave the property?

Will there be 65 yr old Captains/First Officers looking to train as SOs in 2012 in order to work beyond age 65?

Will our CBA continue to allow these Capts/FOs to train as SOs regardless of the manning level in the 727 SO seat? (...I assume it will be fat as we draw the jet down).

Just wondering if the "era" of older SOs is coming to an end...or just delayed until Dec 2012?

Any guesses out there?

What would you wager on your guess?

How many over 65 guys do we have now? I think there will always be guys flying until they die. Very sad.

1. Don't know because the fleet plan on VIPS doesn't go past 2007.
2. Don't know, but probably depends on negotiations, and the value placed on either allowing it or not allowing that training.
3. See #2 above.
4. Probably, but there will always be a few guys who want to work forever.
5. Based on the above: 2099; Yes; Yes; Perhaps; No; $1.298
Hope the above helps, but please don't plan your future on it.

"FYI: The 727 Fleet Plan as of today is for 7 Valsans to go away in calendar year 2008. This will
leave 83 in service at the beginning of 2009. By the end of 2009 we will have 69 aircraft and 58
by the end of 2010. "

There's another thread on this, but 727 Standards put this out last week.
