At least your in the frontseat, some of the last 2001 group moved to 3 different S/O seats in about 18 months, then told they would be furloughed, and then bypassed and left in S/O seats so new hires could fill F/O slots to allow UPS avoid the triple training. (They got paid as F/O's though at that point) Now, 2007 newhires are trained for Dvc-8netc that were contarctually left over from early 2007 bids, UPS decides to crack open ANC and very few bid, so they dip into the reservoir of last resort. You, the newhire. Lousy what they do to us while on probation. Probation allows the company to move you instantly. Off probation, they can't. Just part of UPS making you feel part of the machinery and getting rid of the new car smell.

New car smell ... ? The Ferrari just became a Pinto ...

This to will pass, maybe more painfully for some. But I wouldn't go back to anywhere else I have been.

Does UPS run anything like a mock or practice bid ? If so, do people participate accurately ? It would give management and the membership a snapshot of the ramifications and number of training events this may cause ... just wondering.

Manpower Planning usually runs a mock bid every few days while a bid is out. You can call and ask to see where you sit. They did publish the mock bid results from the last realignment bid the Fri before the actual bid closed. It was pretty accurate. They did not do the same for the displacement bid.

You can always do it yourself using the Bid Summary data. Not as accurate though because you have no idea who is on a training freeze, etc. Kind of a pain too.

Thanks for that info. Being on probation last time and not in a displacement position, I did not pay as much attention to that bid as I will be to subsequent bids ...

Third: Remember for what its worth that Rick Barr said last week in ONT that if 65 changed then they would only hire 50 guys in 08. I know what is said today means very little tomorrow, but he did address the issue, so it has probably been brought up in man-power planning meetings as a possible sceniro.

I know you guys are up to your collective asses in alligators atm, but who is Rick Barr? You see I am in the pool and was figuring that the age 65 thing would keep me there for a long time, but now I see a hiring figure of 50. Just trying to plan my swim time. THanks in advance for any info.

Flight District Manager, basically the head honcho of the air operation. The chief pilot and d.o. report to him.

Ok, so he may have some credibility, is what I am hearing. Hopefully, I will be lucky enough to be one of the 50 mentioned. Thanks for the info.

He's not the head honcho though, that would be Lekites. There is another guy between Barr and Lekites, a typical box head type. Barr was an Air Force c5 pilot and an IPA guy back in the day.

Just looking at airupsers and he's shown as the number one guy on the flight district staff page...number two then I guess? Ultimately I really don't care as long as he never has a reason to learn my name!
