This is such crap. Can someone point out the specific language in the law and contractual sections that will enable the guys that already turned 60 to return to the front seats??? How are they getting away with this?

It is one thing that the age changed but having these re-treads come back to the front really fires me up. I'm ready to get a little lawsuit going myself on behalf of the majority that is getting screwed....I don't see why not, they have jammed this down our throats from the beginning against the will of the masses and I am p1ssed.

They have stolen career potential and salary straight from our pockets.

Furious young guy,

From HR 4343, you can thank our union for these words:

`(e) Applicability-
  • `(1) NONRETROACTIVITY- No person who has attained 60 years of age before the date of enactment of this section may serve as a pilot for an air carrier engaged in covered operations unless--
    • `(A) such person is in the employment of that air carrier in such operations on such date of enactment as a required flight deck crew member; or
`(B) such person is newly hired by an air carrier as a pilot on or after such date of enactment without credit for prior seniority or prior longevity for benefits or other terms related to length of service prior to the date of rehire under any labor agreement or employment policies of the air carrier.

That is baloney because they are no longer a pilot. When a guy turned 60 or now 65 he should be put on the engineer seniority list and OFF of the pilot seniority list. Why is it that we have one giant seniority list? It should be the same here as it is at the other airlines where the guys that are already over 60 can't come back.
This will impact our careers far more than we can ever imagine. Isn't there almost 300 herpes guys in the back right now? And with all the other guys sticking around for another 5 yrs I might be 60 by the time I can upgrade.

Interesting point. FedEx ALPA did vote in favor of it even though the vast majority of FedEx crew members were against it. There could very likely be grounds for it. Get with ALPA legal and put in a grievance!

Not a single dissenting vote in either The House OR Senate. NOT ONE. The will of the masses has spoken. All 300 million. Get over it.

The original words were to the effect that retired guys could come back. ALPA got the lesser of two evils in the language. Before we spin out of control, we should be thankful for that.

What other airlines out there (besides us and UPS) still have FE's?
