Unfortunately, it's true.......
I am really beginning to hate baby boomers.......they have screwed up just about every good deal out there.......I remember back in '83 when I was in college, hearing about a thing called HERPES......something caused by the carelessness of those just in line ahead of me........took a good thing and made it much too
complicated and messy......just like now.

Remember that you will need those 5 years to make up for all the money you lost by waiting an extra 5 years to upgrade. When you make your money is nearly as important as how much you make. Those of us who understand the time value of money know that this is a bad deal for everyone who is not already a captain. That includes all future pilots.

As much as I love my parents, I think the Baby Boomers have screwed everything up, too. The Greatest Generation gave birth to the MeMeMe Generation. Oh the irony.
If anyone has any doubts about the cluelessness and self-centeredness of the Me-cubed generation, just look at our current crop of Representatives, Senators, and Presidential candidates. Way to go, Granddad.

I don't like this situation either, but I think it's important to point out that it is not the fault of the geezer in the cockpit with you that he is there and facing forward. It would be foolish for them not to take advantage of this situation, now that it is upon us. No one is going to, or should be expected to take a bullet for the guy below them on the seniority list. Perhaps I'll just stop bidding vacation and not put in a monthly bid so I can give those slots to a junior guy...
Seniority is the life-blood of our profession and we have to protect it at all costs, even if doing so doesn't benefit our particular seniority at the moment. What comes around goes around...eventually we all get our turn for the great deals (hopefully). For now, if you want to be ****ed off, direct your anger at the union, company and congress...

Over 60 CAPT: Um I'm a bit tired, just gonna shut my eyes a bit if that ok with you.
Under 60 FO (aka required babysitter of over 60 guy): yeah - you do that you old %^&*(so i can pull out my video camera and stick the whole thing on you tube).
dont let these guys sleep - keep 'em awake all night...let them burn out as quick as possible.
