You're right. I looked at the old resolution from Jan. The Dec one that just passed took that language out. Those guys looking to avoid the tax hit better retire before the President signs.

That was the old bill ... he did not like the FAA reauthorization bill. Something to do with not improving the ATC system fast enough ...

This one that passed last night ... is a completely stand alone bill.

Welcome to the new world order !

Any airlines out there in negotiations need to fight for higher FO pay rates across the board. Like 90 % of what the left seat pays ...

Just glad to be where I am at right now, I think ...

Age 65 is the greatest thing since the LOA for FedEx. Instead of paying you 6 figures to sit on your a$$ the day you turn 60, they now get 5 more years of honest work out of you.

And, to top it off, FedEx gets to send you fewer pension checks when you finally do retire. 10 years less worth, on average. See table below:

Table 1 – Actuarial Study of lifespan vs. age at retirement.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Age at.......................................... Average Age
Retirement .....................................At Death
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
49.9 .................................................. ...86

From the looks of that ... if the age goes to 66, the grim reaper will be knocking at the flight deck door.

As always, liars figure, and figures lie ... something like that

I suggest you talk to our ALPA Aero Medical guy at FedEx, JK, about the numbers ALPA came up with with the study they commisioned. Airline pilots in general live a very, very long time after retirement.

FO to front desk "Can you have security check the Captain's room? He isn't answering his phone and showtime was 15 minutes ago..."

ALL the more reason to be on the golf course, by the river, etc ... IN ACTUAL RETIREMENT !

While the table posted may be worthless ... the point is someone just added 5years of productivity to your employer.

And took away 5 years of productivity to our FULL retirement benefits ...

Thank you very little ...

How many days notice do you have to give the company if you are planning to retire?
That's because those Captains have some financial planning ability. This REALLY helps out the guys who don't.
