Default FDX B-727 fleet update

From Standards:

The 727 Fleet Plan as of today is for 7 Valsans to go away in calendar year 2008. This will leave 83 in service at the beginning of 2009. By the end of 2009 we will have 69 aircraft and 58 by the end of 2010.

Why would we get rid of the Valsans?

As of yesterday, there where 91 with 4 of those being the Morningstar aircraft in Canada. Not sure when those go away.

Not sure, but the leases on those 7 expire in July and August, and we're turning them in.
As mentioned, we have 91 in service now, although the 4 leased to Morning Star don't really count. Minus the 7 Valsans and 477FE, which is going to be retired after peak, and you get the listed 83.

I heard UAL was going to trade their aging fleet of 777's for seven of the FedEx 727's (seeing how the DC-10 for 727 Hush-Kit trade worked out so well for them)

Hey now! Remember, if you think it, you own the content. If it's not something you could get away with posting in written form at APC, it's not appropriate to have as content in a thought.

By the way, there is nothing wrong with the two thoughts above.

Checking the release and seeing a Valsan always makes my day. Good stuff: no RGB to navigate around, a real nice ADI, and power power power. They are a joy to fly and I will sincerely miss them. I am hoping that we are really just bluffing and will drive the price down so we can afford to keep them another 10 years. I would love the chance to do captain IOE in a Valsan on the way to OAK, RNO, or BOI in the bird. It will be sorely missed...
