UPS vs FedEx

As far as you taking your frustrations out on a crew scheduler is pretty lame....

I think telling the crew scheduler "to continue up the list" is far from me taking my frustrations out on them; I said it would make me feel better.

I've heard the phrase, "I'm just happy to be here", so many times, it now makes me nauseous. So you see, my reference to a UPS Probie not being happy, so maybe FDX is the place to go, was made tongue-in-cheek.

Are you talking about the way I'm treating you? I'm not one of your own guys...I don't work at Brown. But I don't have to, to know that your revenge idea, "I will be happy to help you in your time of need but I need a leather jacket", would be fruitless, at any company.

To the original poster that started this thread....my apologies. I never meant to hijack this thread and discuss UPS' leather jacket situation, ad nauseum.
The only point I was trying to make in my original post was that although our uniforms aren't going to win any fashion awards from Georgio Armani or Versace, they didn't cost us a thin Roosevelt dime either. Neither did our Travel Pro suitcases, our flight kits, or our hotels during training. That's a couple of thousand dollars I didn't have to spend at UPS, that came right out of my wallet as a new-hire at Delta back in 2000.
This whole leather jacket issue for new-hires, while frustrating, is a very small blip on the big radar screen (IMHO), and hasn't affected my QOL at UPS one iota. The leather jacket is not a required uniform item; it's strictly optional, so nobody is making us new guys buy it. I'm buying it because it is a nice piece of gear, and probably the single most functional uniform item we have.
The IPA has already worked out a deal with the company and Cintas to allow us to use our annual allocation of uniform points to help defer the cost of the jacket....this IS progress. I'm confident that our union will continue to fight the fight, and work out a deal with the company to pick up the entire tab. Time will tell.
