Well, now you can use your entire yearly supply of Centas Uniform Points (263) towards the purchase of your leather jacket. You have to call UPS first to get on the spreadsheet they send to Perone, then call Perone and order. You are looking at around 400 smacks and up.
Good luck, we are all counting on you...

Just to be clear, the jacket will cost you around $400 if you don't use any points. If you use all of your 263 Cintas points, I don't know how much that will drop the price, but it should help a lot.

Compared to my former employer (Delta), UPS has been more than generous when it comes to uniforms, flight kits, suitcases, and covering hotel costs during training. At Delta, we paid for everything....at UPS, I didn't pay for squat.
Out of principle I am not going to pay or use points for the jacket. I am going to wait for the first JA call when off probation in about a month and say "I will be happy to help you in your time of need but I need a leather jacket" I want to see what the response is going to be. Until then its the 12 dollar shanghia North Face knock off. Still also going to Grieve it when off probation.

It's a dollar per point.

That's your choice. For as much as I will use the jacket (a lot), and about $130 out of my pocket, I'll order the jacket now, and worry about being reimbursed from the company later. Would you accept the jacket from a Capt that bought/donated one for you?

You know what their response is going to be? It's going to be, "Uh, ok...does that mean you will fly?" or "I'll get you the 800 number to Cintas, and you can order one....will you fly now?"

Your point is well taken, but I don't know what will be accomplished by throwing this in the face of a flight crew scheduler.

That's a great plan. Good luck with that.

I guess if a UPS probie is not "just happy to be here"...Maybe, FDX is the place to go.

T, Sideshow Bob offered to donate his to me and then offered to buy me one and I didn't want something that should be issued to all or none. Its a principle thing to me. His offer is very generous and I thank him and guys like him but it doesn't solve the issue for me.

I guess my answer will be contiune up the list. If others felt the same way maybe their decsion would be differnt.

It would make me feel better.

I'm going to get mine now by shelling out the 130 smacks difference. If the union does something to correct this in the future I expect they will work out a reimbursement deal of some type. Regardless I'm going to use the 130 as a tax write off now as I won't be able to use it on second year pay.

No, very happy here! Just think everyone should be issued one. I guess you were one of the lucky ones to recieve one for free! Who needs management guys when our own guys treat each other like this. I am just asking?
