777 Pay?

You can be sure ol' DW will work hard for the 380 rates to apply to the 777. His pay is based on the highest paying seat.

What I would like to see is some statement by my union advising me where we intend to go with the issue. Is this too much to ask?
Does this affect me? I never plan to bid the 777 but I would like the pay rates to attract all the senior guys in my seat so that I may advance a little. I agree that DW is probably all for getting a higher rate than the MD-11 pays since his pay will be based on that. If so, then Wow, my President might actually represent an interest of mine.....by default.

This type of uninformed misinformation is just the kind of thing that lulls our already largely apathetic pilot group into a false sense of security. Where do you get your "facts"? I haven't seen an LOA or any side letter of agreement that addresses anything regarding the 777. I spoke with our Contract enforcement guy today and he said there is nothing in place for the 777. He said he is also unaware of any negotiations in progress on the same. That seemed a little strange to me. He may be left out of the loop but I trust he might be more in-the-know than some line pilot who already knows "this is a dead issue".

FWIW I can tell you exactly how this is going to go down. A while back there was a grievance that I believe was not settled in our favor dealing with widebody vs narrowbody. Widebody was determined to be any aircraft with two isles in the passenger world. i.e. 777. A380 I believe has three. Wala, the precedent is set. That is the argument that mgt will hang their hat on and we won't have a counter argument in hell. The only way to get better rates is to park them, which this group doesn't have the balls for. I end my prediction, please correct me if somebody remembers the exact grievance that I referred to.

I searched my archives of union emails and couldn't find the email I thought I had read regarding the 777 pay rates...my apologies. I like to back up statements as much as possible as well. I think it was rumored to be included in the last contract but was left out that they would be the same.
As far as a letter from the union addressing the rates you can forget about it! Past issues are example enough that won't happen. And why would it be anywhere on their agenda? Until there is a bid for the 777 or it shows up on property there won't be any talk of payrates until the 11th hour. History will repeat itself unfortunately

Interesting... But, the A380 only has 2 isles.

Now, if you count the upper deck as well, then it has 4. But that logic would dictate the 747 has 3, then it should have a separate scale too.
*Opinion only* Since the contract lists a subsection of widebody pay "MD-11, DC-10, A-300/310" as a pay scale and not simply "Widebody" anymore, I THINK that there should be no hurdles to fighting for a "777" subsection since it does not fit in the current one. What that rate will be, is another opinion.
