That's a great point, the insurance company won't go for it. I don't think they'll cancel the bid.

This is going to be very interesting indeed.

Hey ALPA, you can lead us to an LOA, but you can't make us bid it!!!

LMAO! Thanks for remembering! Actually, I can hold Airbus Capt in HKG now. For real this time, haha.

LAG,

C'mon man, you are SERIOUS airbus material. Your slaveship days are over. You know how bad it sux. You need to grab those SHV trips and move on to greener pastures.

On a serious note....WOW. Huck made the 757 list in Paris...I wasn't sure that would happen. I was NOWHERE close to the last 757 in MEM (and by the way--WHY would a guy who could hold a 'bus at a similar senioirity bid the 757? Are we THAT fired up about Boeing verses Airbus products?)

And China...wow. Everyone here had some PIC somewhere else. I think some of the guys over there would water your eyes with their previous experience. I also think a few of those guys who's last 4 stripe job was flying a CRJ domestically will be working hard. (No offense--I'm a round dial baby/former fighter guy--and I've made ONE position report in my career at FedEx--so they'd cancel the bid if I showed up on the list!)

I wonder if anyone in the union or management really thought we'd fill these FO slots with this LOA, or if they knew we'd have some gaps. Don't guess it really matters much... Paris as a 757 captain might have made me go "hmmm" ten years ago, but right now the little girls, horses, and cats mean I'm very happy where I am. I'll be even happier when LAG gets his 'Bus.

That's a very good observation my friend. Obviously, you have had some amazing tutelage Should you choose to run for Mayor, I would like to be your chief fund raiser.

You hit the nail on the head Magic! I know the final bid has not closed yet but I got a feeling the MEC is going to be eating a BIG plate of CROW on this POS LOA!

It is just amazing to me how much this company makes and how much they spend to protect thier golden service reliablity brand name yet they won't open the purse strings just a nats hair to make these new FDA's bidable. Instead they want the pilots to fund the expansion and cost savings.

Wasn't the whole idea behind these FDA's to SAVE the company money on credit hours and airline tickets??? Now it looks like they are going to hire approx. 50 new crewmembers...salary, retirement and employee benefits, etc, etc are just eating away at all that money supposely saved.

This whole LOA, FDA expansion deal has completely blown up and backfired in the companies face and the unions face. Both have lost a lot of credibilty in my book (I know, I know...really isn't worth much anyway!)

You can't take one or two examples and apply to all......I know a lot would like to make this case but it just ain't so.

Those in the pool may not have the resume/experience that the company wants sitting in those FDAs....rememeber the ANC MD Nuggets were handpicked out of what, 100-150 swimmers?

I don't see us interviewing to get a larger pool, I just don't know what the company will do.

Anywho, funny how this has turned out. Force feed us this crappy LOA, below average incentives, and they can't fill the FO slots!!! Beautiful. Maybe if we were offered something lucrative/competitive, the company wouldn't be in this situation.

I know they can see our standing bids even before a bid opens, if they saw that they weren't able to fill the slots, you would think they would wait to have a bid until they had the numbers.

Here comes the emails, "We have to fill these slots or we're going to lose the flying!!!"

This whole thing is a mess and was handled extrmemely poorly, not by a Fortune 500 company. When I explain to friends/family what is going on, they can't believe that FDX...big purple...would mess around with the pilot group and not do whatever it takes to capture/own the EU/ASIA market!!

On a side note, I have a friend who works for a defense contractor in PA, he got offered to go work for another company in DC, but doesn't want to move....they're paying him extra compensation to commute from PA to DC, and even got him an apartment in DC in case he's too tired to drive home.

Sorry for the babbling, I was just brainstorming.

Any ideas how this Harry Potter saga will end?

Here comes pot sweetener #???. How about the Union grows a sack, just tells the CO no. So then they get together and RE(or first time)negotiate a real expat move package.....

Make it doable and you'll see me on the CDG Capt list....

Just food for thought.... Anyone listening at the CO or the Union?

Why should they renegotiate?

The CA slots are all filled. The FO slots will get filled with newhires and some will be STV'd if and when necessary before newhires get there. The filling of the FDAs are going exactly as the Company and Union leadership planned. At minimal cost and disruption to most of the crew force.

I'm sure they are listening...But are we listening to them?
