Bid Lines - not so good
#3
Not poking at you with this statement...just a thought. Upgrading is getting less and less attractive. The other bidpacks are starting to look like 727 lines. I realize there are some sweet trips here and there...but geez...at this company if you are not up in seniority some of the lines are just plain tough.
Our hourly rate needs to reflect this in the future, IMHO. The payrate for a one leg in, one leg out 17 hour layover is past. The new rates better reflect the "optimized" reality.
If there is a silver lining, its that the closer you get to FAR limits the less options they have to make it worse. Pryrric victory, I admit...
December is always nuts anyway. Perhaps a peek at the Jan bidpacks will give us a realistic picture.

Dude...YOU need to be on the Bus. Its got LAG written all over it. The 727 is going downhill, and you'll get the day SHV line a lot more on the Bus than you will the 727 (since its gone!). Besides...after 6+ years on the panel you'll b1tch-slap the guy who doesn't grab you a water or complains about your seat position--so the BUS is where YOU need to be. Of course, the fact you'll slide in on top of me (Eagle pilot disclaimer: So to Speak) has NOTHING to do with the solid, professional career advice I offer.

I am thinking about it but there are a but load (same Eagle disclaimer) of steps to climb. And I get dizzy with all those right turns climbing them. I don't know how those guys do it on a three leg night. They deserve that extra $20.

"One of our goals in Negotiations was to eliminate the need for the SIG and PSIT by achieving ironclad scheduling rules. About halfway through the process (when our first Mediator told us to give it up) we knew we would not achieve that goal. We then set about the task of strengthening the ability of the SIG to dispute and otherwise influence bad pairings for the better. We had some minor successes in that area, but in the final analysis we all knew that in the scheduling arena there is no justice—just us!"
A quote from BC!! The NC gave up on one of our MAJOR "pillars". Now we are going to have to live with the results of that decision. All of our so called "gains" in this contract are going to be negated by the companies cranking up of the optimizer. Any increase in monies we thought we gained are going to be more than covered by increased productivity by the company because the NC didn't protect us with better work rules.
