Secondary Vacancies question

Secondary Vacancies question
From the FCIF
"Secondary Vacancies
Secondary vacancies will be evaluated at the close of the bid. There is a
possibility that secondary vacancies will not be filled in some seats."
Any thoughts/predictions on that? Any word on NB/WB FO slots?
There has to be some....SOME upward movement (besides the FDAs/757) to the right seat, one would think.

Of course if you believe the MEC PR (seek counseling) there are a whole mess of guys trying to bid into the FDAs but the software will not let them. So there should be a lot more secondary casualties.

What's a practice bid? Just kidding.
Ok, let me expand...
Why the "may not be filled in some seats" line? Is that just the company disclaimer that anything can happen? Does the computer just spit those out regardless of company growth predictions?

It seems to be a standard (legal?) clause in EVERY bid. I've always assumed that after the bid closes, the company evaluates "if" they really need to fill secondary vacancies and expend the costs of 2 training cycles? That said, I can't remember a time when significant secondary vacancies were not filled?

Yes. If they decided not to fill the secondary, you would not see it on the bid. You could just look at how many, lets say DC10 FO's bid off of the 10, vs how many people were awarded 10 FO. If there was a difference negatively, then they decided not to fill the vacancy.

All this confusion would go away if we got rid of practice bidding. With exact percentage bidding there is no reason at all to have a practice bid. Bid what you want to fly at the exact percentage you want to hold it.

The last bid I could not afford to go to training with two weeks notice, I changed my bid after the practice. This bid I want to go to training ASAP, I like where my name is, no change.
I like practice bids and if you are in the top half of a senority bracket (per seat) they are fairly accurate.
