Company additions to the LOA

Albie - I think you meant $4k "Housing Allowance" --- not COLA (Cost of Living Allowance).
The LOA should have both (...just like most overseas corporate packages and military packages)
The Housing Allowance should be tied to the cost of housing in that FDA (Paris and HKG are different --- and remember, this is what the company actually proposed first, but the union declined)
The COLA should be tied to the cost-of-living of non-housing goods and be some percentage of your pay...and then have an adjustment mechanism as the dollar falls or rises.
Anyway, I know this doesn't change the relevant arguments of your post --- but wanted to point out the current LOA lacks both.

I took typing in HS too, and I can type fairly quickly without looking at the keyboard. My problem is I think too slowly and I try to respond to what is written. I get about 4 paragraphs and the site has timed me out. Going back and forth between word and Firefox is a drag, but I have done that with some of my longer posts.
Very frustrating.
Thanks for the ideas.

Maybe its because I always hit the quick reply button instead of the regular reply button. I hadn't even seen the preview post button before, although I noticed it shows the preview when you go to advanced option.

LAG,
As sexy as you are, going to an adult learning center on a day off (and as senior on your seat as you are you can bid around conflicts!) you'll be the dude the divorced mom babes swoon over...especially when they find out you work for FedEx. Mention that "thing" you used to fly and I know you'll be a chick magnet. Its NEVER to late to take a typing class...

Two practice bids later and still short warm bodies at the FDAs. Time for adjustments, hence the FCIF in question. During contract negotiations, our Union told us to avoid informal meetings with management. The Union indicated that often times, management used these gatherings (i.e. brown bag lunches) to find out what the crew force really wanted (the bottom line) from contact negotiations. When invited to lunch with management, our Union wanted us to decline the invitation and reply with the phrase: “My Negotiating Committee speaks for me.”
What is the Union’s catch phrase for this situation?
Some suggestions…
“Get ‘er done……next time!”
“May I have another!”
“Oh my…thank you”

"Seriously, now THIS is the best LOA that we are going to get...no joke."
