A litte health care perspective
I just wanted to share my recent experience during my quest to determine the best health care option for the Beertini family.
First of all, the correct website address to search for providers is:
www.bcbs.com/healthtravel/finder.html
Enter in the code "FXF" in the identification prefix block and that will lead you to a screen that allows you to select providers for your area that fall under the FedEx healthcare system. (It does not protect against run-on sentences however).
The nice lady at Anthem told me 'I don't know why they (FedEx) gave you that other site since that information is outdated.' (Go figure).
It turns out there aren't any providers within 2 hours of where I live. That is a function of my residence in BFE--not a big change since I had the same problem under UHC (Cigna wasn't offered under the old benefits due to previously mentioned out-in-the-boonies lifestyle).
Soooo, I thought I would attempt to try the local HMO option. It turns out that coverage for the Beertini clan with a $500 deductible would only be $791 a month.
I guess the out of network health care option isn't looking too shabby after all.

call your current docs
try calling them. out here on the east coast, all of our doc are participating, so it doesn't matter. from past experience, though, you can tell any docs you currently use that "my emloyer is switching insurance." with BCBS, they should easily be able to be added to the provider list. (make sure you ask them nicely)
this has worked well for my family in the past.
hope it works.

Make sure to search the PPO docs
My family has some unique medical issues and I needed to do some real homework into my best options for healthcare coverage. My initial look for doctors on the company recommended website (www.anthem.com/ca) revealed very few of my family's present doctors.
But ... when I selected the "PPO" option, most of our doctors turned out to be participating and I felt much better about this new healthcare plan I sure do hope that it is the correct website to confirm doctors!*? And I REALLY hope this person who started this thread is incorrect? Did you bother to confirm your information with either the union benefits folks or the company benefits people?

I did all of that. I was just letting folks know that the Anthem customer service lady I spoke with (866-406-0982) informed me that the anthem.com/ca website didn't have the most current provider information. The link in my first post (along with the FXF identification code) is where one can find the most current information.
Finally, I did bother to confirm this with the nice folks at ALPA and they are in the process of assisting me.
I hope I haven't bothered anyone else by sharing information.
Have a good day,

You're problem is that you are showing initiative. We've learned (been taught) that we are to blindly accept what the company and ALPA says is best for us. JL and ALPA said the enhanced option was best, so why would you waste your time verifying that?
