The crux of the problem
Now I know of a couple Million ways that DHL can make me happy. But taking your jobs ain't one of them. You're right about one thing Knight, a merger will make our Scope violation claim moot. But it will let DHL off the hook for putting the screws to us. So I'm not so inclined as to let them wiggle free without us exercising those couple Million reasons.
But seriously, we feel that when we negotiated that scope section and got DHLWE to sign on through the side letter in '98, we gave up on a lot. So it means a lot to us when DP strolls in, buys up DHL and then **** all over the contract that their predecessor were a party to.

I'm sure many of us would be interested to know just how that would work: ie,ASTAR claims ALL DHL freight, and protects ABX pilot jobs?? Love the sound, but I'm having some trouble seeing the process. Only in a merger can you even come close to doing both.[/quote]
SK. Again, and as several of us have said - Astar pilots will aggressively pursue this lawsuit with the intention of enforcing and winning our contractual agreement with Astar and DHL. At this point we do not expect to get awarded the flying that ABX does. We do expect the courts will force Astar and DHL to compensate us monetarily for lost wages due to us - compensation allowed for in our CBA Scope clause for just such an occasion; additional wages we would have earned through upgrades, aircraft transitions, etc.
Our claim won't take your freight. Maybe, just maybe it would have back in 2003 - over a period of the following few years - if Astar/DHL had honored our CBA provisions from the get-go. Won't happen now.
We didn't ride into ILN guns blazing trying to run you all out of town. DHL created us, bought you many years later, and did a force march on Astar to move us up here. This situation is not of our making. You want to be ****ed at someone, try DHL. We're not the bad guys here.
Relax.

I still stand by my earlier statement, "things sure are messed up in DHL-land".
Go back and read some of these posts. You guys swing more than the Richards in boys town. So who is the the third carrier messing in on ABX/Astar turf? Is it ATI/Astar, oh wait ABX/Astar or ATI alone or Kitty Hawk or Kitty Hawk/Astar. I give up!
Just what the heck IS going on there in DHL-land?

I could have swore I saw somewhere on here a rumor that since ABX and ATI are under the same corporate umbrella, and that since ABX flies 767s out of certain domiciles(Miami I think) and with ATI getting 767s that there might be a push to have ATI at similar domiciles. I am hoping this is not the case since home basing is a huge perk.

what's your take on the hiring process, are they halfway through hiring how many guys they need, or is there still a big need heading into the 767.
What's the 767 timeline? I have read that it is a ggod time to get on at ATI as folks will be moving into the 767, moving more guys from the 8 right seat to left, and speeding up the upgrade process, at least I think.
Any interview advice?
