new healthcare
anyone hear when we'll get info on the new healthcare plan (wellpoint blue cross blue shield?). it's almost november and i havent seen anything with regard to what doctors are and are not in the plan, etc. it'd be nice to know if i have to switch doctors BEFORE someone gets really sick.
i emailed alpa R&I a few weeks ago...got no reply. if you go to the benefits website, it only descibes how to contact Cigna for questions - not BCBS. does anyone have any info?

I had similar questions. There was an FCIF last week (07-0556 under the Admin section) that gave a rough outline of the new health care. The administrator for medical and prescription drugs is Anthem BCBS (www.anthem.com). There's a provider directory on the site.
The FCIF also says that dental is staying under MetLife (I was really worried about that one -- have two in braces and didn't want to change othodontists), and didn't mention a provider for vision so I'm assuming it will stay under Davis.

Which as far as I can tell (read "no other data points") is pretty good. The lady at the Wal Mart eyeglass store was blown away by how much of my glasses (first pair ever) were covered - saved me almost $250 from rack rate!

Anthem BCBS was not rated very high in my state in a recent issue of Consumer Reports. Not that United Healthcare was any better. I've been under FedEx Basic since there is no other plan available here in da northwoods. Anyone know if this new Anthem will provide coverage for those of us currently under FedEx basic?

2008 PLAN CHANGES
* Separate Medical, Dental and Vision Options – Currently, your health plan option includes Medical, Dental and Vision coverage for you and your covered dependents. For 2008, Medical, Dental and Vision options must be elected separately.
* New Medical Plan Designs – The 2008 Medical plan options (other than in Hawaii) will be different from the ones you have currently. For that reason, it is very important that you make a Medical plan election for 2008. These new PPO plan designs, Base Plan and Buy Up Plan, will be administered by Anthem Blue Cross (Anthem) and include medical, prescription drug and mental health/substance abuse coverage.
* New Dental Plan Designs – You will have a choice of 2 Dental plan options
The Anthem Provider Directory and pharmacy formulary are found on Anthem’s web site.
* Through October 31, 2007 is www.anthem.com
* Starting November 1, 2007 is www.anthem.com/ca
Group Legal Services Plan – The annual enrollment period for the Group Legal Services Plan is also October 24 to November 12, 2007.

you have to log into the ehr website, but the new stuff isn't ready for viewing until 10/24 (when the window opens). You'll have to review the new medical plans online.
I think it's lame that we can't review this new plan with all the differences starting now. I can't believe that can't send us a paper brochure as in the past. I hope my tech-challenged spousal unit can sort thru it online. I guess I'll fire up the printer ... oh, have to wait another 9 days.

OK ... I read the contract (before I voted on it) and I know we "negotiated" new healthcare benefits starting Jan. 1 (I think that's the date?). I've seen the FCIF with a few of the details ...
Am I missing something? Has there been a mailing from either the company or the union explaining the new benefits? What do I have to do to sign up or choose between the different options?
My family has some medical issues I'll need to address (changing doctors maybe?).
Enquiring minds want to know.
Thanks is advance ... mark
