Maybe that's why UPS' stock price went UP when they announced that they were getting out of the CSPF?

IMHO, the reason is that Astar isn't in this for the long-haul. They're just holding things together for DHL long enough for UPS to buy into Deutche Post, at which point they (UPS) will begin merging DHL's North American ops (both ground and flight) into their own.
There is another thread on the rumor of UPS being interested in Atlas. I know that DHL owns 49% of both Polar (which is owned by Atlas) and Astar. Dan, speculate on how this might tie in with UPS buying into DP.

I don't know what advantage would be gained by UPS buying Atlas, unless it was to have their corporate hands around the throat of DHL's international lift. Integrating Atlas' ops and personell with their own would be pretty much impossible under the current CBA.

Your guess is as good as mine on that. I'm more concerned with UPS' interest in Deutsche Post, and the ramifications it could have for Astar/ABX. "The Bear" has been doing an awful lot of poking around DHL's campsite lately. Clearly, he's interested in what's in the tent.

Ups does not intergrate personel, they would take the route authority, aircraft and dump the rest. Just like they did with challenge in MIA. May be they want the Atlas operation in Stanstead? Like they wanted Challenges op in MIA.
