When the age 60 rule changes some may come back to the right seat versus the left seat. The age 60 change will almost certainly happen long before the next contract. If you are over 60 in the right seat just keep bidding (international) lines that have Captains over 60. The company will have to bump someone otherwise both pilots would show up and tell GOC that they aren't legal to fly the trip because both are over 60, and cargo wouldn't move. So they will probably bump the F/O with pay because it's cheaper to use a reserve F/O than a Captain. The company would probably leave the over 60 F/O on the trip until just prior in case the Captain called in sick. There is no provision in the current contract to remove either the Capt or the F/O without pay. It's just like bumping for training. So the over 60 F/O would have to wait until a day or so prior but would get paid for all his trips and never have to fly. Start building your over 60 positive airmen list.

[quote=Jetjok;245433]I'd think that they (the company) would build into the monthly bidding system, the ability to recognize an over 60 F/O and not award him a line that would require him to fly with an over 60 Captain.
JJ, the problem with this is that a lot of MD-11 lines have multiple trips with different Capts. So.....in a 72 CH line are you going to deny it to an over 60 FO because he has a 6 CH El Paso turn with Capt Geriatric?

You make a good point and I certainly don't know the answer to this issue. However, the computer will have to play a major role in how all this pans out. We'll still have to wait and see if and when the rule changes, and how it shakes out around FedEx.

Kinda the same reason that the negative airman list never worked on the MD-11! Capt and FO lines numbers are different!

[QUOTE=MD11Fr8Dog;245961]I didn't realize that the old negative airman list was "line number" based, and not "pilot employee number" based. Perhaps the reason it didn't work, is that most guys didn't know how to use it. But I could be wrong.
