heard some guy on the crew bus talking about a bean counter saying the that FDA's weren't a done deal.. appears that is true. I guess some of these bus rumors are actually true.

Meanwhile over on the UPS board there is rumor of them possibly buying MORE 767 and MORE 747-400 and Picking up used MD-11's out of Roswell New Mexico to be converted to freighters. Used to be in the old days Fedex would lead in aircraft buying and UPS followed. Now it seems it just might be the other way around.............

Either that, or they are waiting until the exchange rate gets to the point where it costs $17.50 for a Big Mac.

Of course, Fred (...or anyone else for that matter) doesn't enjoy "overpaying" by 17%!

Hopefully, we won't have to resurrect the question "How low will we go?"

I ran into the new European RCP in the training dept last Friday. He said that the company is expecting the French pilot union to balk at our idea of having US pilots living in France flying Fedex freight. I asked him if this would delay the bid, and he said the decision had been made to move forward and fight that battle when it raises it's ugly head. (This was not a direct quote, but the gist of his comments.)

Since the bid didn't happen yesterday, maybe they have changed their mind.

That begs the question of what can they really do about it if we aren't flying inter-France (or is it intra... regardless, inside is what I mean) flights? It's kinda like the Cathay, JAL etc pilots who are based in the US. We wouldn't have a leg to stand on if we wanted to do anything about it because they aren't violating any cabotage rules. Of course, you know how crazy those French laws are!

"Of course we're french, where do you think we get these outraaaageous accents!?"

Here is a question for you. If France won't let us in Paris and the LOA was for both Paris and Hong Kong, Are we starting over with a new LOA?

He didn't say that France wouldn't let us in, just that they expected a fight once we officially announced that we are opening the FDA.

I would personally think that the LOA would still be valid for Hong Kong even if we didn't choose to open an FDA in Paris. But if we opened an FDA in another EU city, there would have to be an LOA for that FDA, unless they chose to only offer CBA enhancements.
