Where's the Bid?

I'm thinking not enticing enough to make more than a handful bite that carrot. Consider how many Boeing backseaters stayed put rather than go to Subic, where all those same pay raises existed in addition to a fat tax break, known good schedules, affordable cost of living, etc.
Interesting indeed.
Interesting indeed.
Some guys avoided Subic because of the fear of living in a 3rd world country. When I told people I was going to Subic, I got a lot of negative responses. Like, "that place sucks...blah, blah, blah". You know that ain't true . If we opened a base in Bangladesh, I bet people would shy away from it. Hong Kong and Paris are much more appealing. I think there's gonna be quite a few people ready to get their Bugs Bunny on.
PS I need some of that home brew. This Cass in Seoul ain't cutting it.

I'm glad you had a positive experience on the panel. To me, it was the most demeaning, frustrating and uncomfortable time in a 21-year flying career. I would have done anything - well, virtually anything - to get off it. CDG on F/O pay? You bet. I'd have made it work.
My lowest point was when the captain (a well-known guy) walked into the cockpit when I'd been here two months and said, "So... how many d!cks did your wife have to suck to get you this job?" I was so stunned I just said, "What?" So he slowed down and said, "How - many - d!cks - did - your - wife - have - to - suck - (etc....)"
Now, I KNOW that all you guys here at APC would never treat a newbie flight engineer that way. But the psychos are out there, and I seemed to get all of them my probationary year. I'd have flown a Caravan out of CDG to get out of that seat.
Or maybe it was just the "greed or the thrill...."

You can teach a monkey to fly, but you cannot teach some folks class...

I won't post his initials. I genuinely believe that this man is someone not to be enemies with.
I just hate this slagging on the f/e's that may potentially bid overseas. Not all of us adapted well to sitting sideways... I was exhibit A.....

Got a couple of somewhat similar stories, attitude wise, myself Huck. I never thought that pilots could be such jerks to their "brother" pilots. Never saw it at my previous jobs. But, I am sure they all had nano-pecker syndrome.

Seeing as it was before we had our extensive "Violence in the Workplace" training...I think you would have been more than justified in jumping up and knocking him on his arse! And, if the F/O had any...He'd hold him for you.
Of course, you would both deny it all, at the hearing.
