Where's the Bid?
#11
Are you talking about the bid that was supposed to be out last March? I thought management (and ALPA?) were in a hurry to get the LOA because they were in such a hurry to get the bid out?

I don't think too many guys here are that concerned with flying big jets. Maybe at other places, but with our demographic I don't think that's an enticement. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens, though. I'm betting on very few guys voluntarily going.

I'd fly an RJ between MEM and PFN if it paid the same and gave me the same amount days & time off... Doesn't mean I don't take pride in the job--I love it. It just means short domestic trips are fine with me, and I like the small towns...

Nice thought, however, greed or the thrill of flying a big jet will undoubtedly prevail.
My lowest point was when the captain (a well-known guy) walked into the cockpit when I'd been here two months and said, "So... how many d!cks did your wife have to suck to get you this job?" I was so stunned I just said, "What?" So he slowed down and said, "How - many - d!cks - did - your - wife - have - to - suck - (etc....)"
Now, I KNOW that all you guys here at APC would never treat a newbie flight engineer that way. But the psychos are out there, and I seemed to get all of them my probationary year. I'd have flown a Caravan out of CDG to get out of that seat.
Or maybe it was just the "greed or the thrill...."

Perhaps Mgmt is not seeing the numbers they need to put the bid out.
Can anyone see Ammendment #1 to the LOA? OHHHH how foolish of me. I forgot that the LOA was the first and final offer. Perhaps they can add a annual $2700 stipen of lead based painted toys for the children. What a bonus! I may jump on that added bonus. ---Right seat on the bus and cancer for my kid! What a deal!
Personally - I would rather protect essential in MEM before I moved my family to China.

I'll bite (no pun intented). Would you have been happier if he waited 'til you were in the right seat before he asked? What did sitting on the panel have to do with the question? When I was asked similar questions I usually answered no; should I ask how you got here?

The correct response is "well..... now there are two ways to get here...that way, or a recommendation from FEPWA......I banged your wife!"

Perhaps
Perhaps they've run the standing bid in the background, and not even the DP flyers have bid an FDA........what if you throw a party and no one comes. If they have a bid, and no one bids it.....then there is no "face saving".....
My bet is that with the "Euro at record highs against the dollar".....and various and sundry random "complications"....the dynamic of the FDA will change and we might see a tweak to the LOA. Wishful thinking, perhaps, but the longer they wait, the bigger they'll have to go, which means the more they'll have to entice.
I've been wrong before......my first wife for example.....I also thought the LOA would go down in flames......you can all point and laugh later when I'm proved wrong again....my face will turn red, I'll laugh, and buy you a beer.
Unless it's Vags....then I might buy a few.
