Default FRA ATIS Decoder

Anyone have the decoder ring for enroute ATIS you get over ACARS from FRA. It includes a series of letters followed by numbers in this format D:1500 and I'm not sure what it's telling me.

I remember getting SR and SS (sunrise and sunset) - don't remember the D

Cheers

Here's what it looks like...I'm wondering about those letters followed by the 1500P. It might be important info like the time of the sunset.

This all seems like a german airports only format.

I've searched in hopes of finding information but to no avail. I do believe however that what these letters are talking about are RVRs reported in meters. Where each three letter codes represent a runway and each of those RVRs in your example are over 1500m (over... hence the P...).

Now.... how can you tell which letters represent which runway... I have absolutely no idea.

But I'm thinking A,B,C are for instance runway 25L. Where E,F,G are 25R and I,K,L are 18.... the three runways in use.

What do you think?....
ALSO: What is ETOU in ref to Rwy 26?... (Except for the airport ETOU 12 miles east of Frankfurt)? And why the sudden renaming RWY 26?...

Those are runway rvr's. Look at the airport diagram to locate the points( A,B,C,etc). The "P" means that the rvr is above the highest capable reading of the instrument and the "D" means the rvr is below the lowest capable reading of the instrument. I guess it's too easy to just use plain english.

Don't have it in front of me but there is probably some ball notes on the STAR or SID that have to do with what RWY ETOU is using....just a guess. Probably having to do with crossing altitudes.

ETOU is Wiesbaden, and Wiesbaden using rwy 26. ATC will frequently use different procedures (i.e. different SIDs/STARs, altitude constraints, etc)depending on what runway a nearby airport is using.

Here's an example from the SID notes at Paris CDG:

2: For all SIDs: Letter A/B/K/L assigned when westerly take-off and landing in use at P.-Orly.
3: For all SIDs: Letter D/E/G/H assigned when easterly take-off and landing in use at P.-Orly.

In Atlanta the controllers evidently cut and pasted the information that went into the digital atis. Sometimes they wouldn't cut enough and you'd get lots of arcane pressure information, etc....

Hopefully, when the report is CAVOK they're supposed to delete the RVR values. We are, however, talking about an airport the size of Indy that has about 45 arrival procedures.....

ge99 has it right...I talked to a controller in MUC and he said that those values are rvr's for the corresponding sections of the runway. The MUC airport diagram is easier to interpret.
BTW, our FOM now has 4 rvr values including the far rollout , I guess corresponding to ABCD or EFGH on those German runways.
