757 CDG FOs--Newhires or "Senior 727 FO's"?

[quote=renman95;238211]Why would a senior 727 F/O go to the schoolhouse for a European slot at no extra pay other that "int'l"?
Good question. $2700 per month ($32.4K per year) and $7 CH override (approx $7000 per year). So, around $40K extra on top of annual BLG. Depending on his/her situation and lifestyle expectations, it might be enough to lure them to live in Europe for a while. I know, I know, it should be more and they will be living in the Metro playing the banjo for extra cash but maybe somebody will think that the cultural opportunities over there are more than Hooterville and take the bait. One thing is for certain, in a couple of years, there will be a lot of folks on this forum (who have screamed about what a bad deal it will be), saying "I told you so", or they will look particularly stupid. Time will tell.

You may have a valid point. But BLG for a 52 week year is 884 hours on the 727. 68 hr 4 week periods and 85 hr 5 week periods = 17 hrs/week.
But the point is there.
Extras for current SO-
32 K or housing
6 K for override
>17-26 K for FO pay instead of SO pay (depending on seniority)
55-64K extra for an adventurous SO.
38K for an adventurous FO.
Now I need to work on my estimate of higher costs. I think it will exceed 40K a year.

BLG = Bid Line Guarantee or the sum of the pay credit for all your trips for the month. The numbers quoted above are the contract minimums of 17 hr/wk. Many lines pay a lot more than the minimum. For instance, while the min for a 5 week bid month is 85 hr, while my BLG for the 5 week Oct bidmonth is 88:31.

If I read Section 24C.5.b of the contract right, you cannot be excessed to a FDA...
b. No pilot may be assigned involuntarily to fill an FDA vacancy. If no pilot on the Master Seniority List expresses a preference by standing bid for an FDA vacancy, the Company may hire a pilot to fill that vacancy.
Furthermore in Section 24C.6.b...
b. If an excessed pilot cannot be awarded a crew position due to insufficient preferences on his standing bid, the Company shall assign him to a permanent crew position with a base in the United States with the highest pay rate to which he is entitled by his seniority.
As far as my guess on who will bid CDG 72 FO, I've only met a few folks in the "target demographic" that will (they're either single, or married with no kids, or have small kids and plan to home school). I think that since the base will be initially small they won't need many volunteers and any shortfalls can be filled by STV, or maybe new hires. Or maybe they'll just beef up the 75 MEM numbers enough to have a larger pool of STV candidates (?)
Interesting times...
Didn't vote for it and I ain't gonna bid it! SG

I still say, with >800 FO's and SO's in the Boeing, both CDG and HKG will be filled without new hires. If anyone gets SVT'd I'll buy them a beer.
