True in ANC scheduling will not even let you drop R-days.

I tried to drop 2 days with nothing in open time and received "disapproved due to insufficient reserves."

I'm had limited success dropping R days on the MD ... although I can never figure out what the difference is between when they approve the drop and when they don't?

in ANC.....maybe it's that picking up the trip of your choice at straight time (that fits your schedule/desires) is better than getting nothing on draft/volunteer since we are so fat on reserves and the company isn't having to give out trips at 150% right now? maybe?

esp. if you're a commuter trying to minimize commutes with these 3, 4, or 5-day trips that are permeating our bid pack right now.....

or maybe everyone is under that perception and they don't realize that the draft/volunteer IS available now for the regular line swine? is it?

or is draft/volunteer only being given out to the select few (flex/lca)?

only hypothesizing here - I don't know if anyone is getting draft/volunteer right now? are they? in ANC.

perhaps people might just be taking what they think they can reasonably expect to get and making the best of it.....?

Usually there isn't any draft or vol when we are overmanned, except for the emergency field draft. As has been mentioned before on another thread, draft and vol doesn't work too well for commuters when you're at home. Works great if you live in domicile.

My guess: There were (a lot of) disputed bus pairings in Aug and previous months. I think there were a ton of Sep Bus disputed pairing but the company agreed to delay the bus bid pack one day to fix them. It had nothing to do with the LOA vote closing date. I don't think any of the other bid packs were fixed during that 24hr delay. In October I will bet you can look forward to some Bus DPs.

No answer for you on the MD11. R day movement on the 727 has been pretty easy so far this year.
Careful, there, Albie. You risk being called a Fedex company stooge or worse if you deviate from the "I hate the company and I'm disgusted with the union" line. Logic and reason are risky around here.

The reason we're overmanned is because guys are flying extra at straight pay instead of holding out for DRF/VLT.

And because people agree to "training on days off" and don't call in sick promptly afterwards to make up for it.

Well...with 1150 hours in my makeup bank (that's 5 years here), anyone throwing stones at me better pony up more than that to complain or lecture. If I want to work a little extra here and there to offset not flying in the ANG, I don't think anyone should complain.

Hold out of draft on the 727? Have you seen our max open? We are deep deep deep in dudes right now. For every draft ***** complaining about makeup, there are some guys on reserve sending them Christmas cards.

And for the record fdx727pilot, I really do like this company. A lot. I want us ALL to do very well here. I know they will tweak and optimize, and hopefully our union and guys will work to make sure that we also protect our Q of life along the way. A good balance means we ***** about both and everyone makes money. There are people everywhere facing a lot worse.

However...again for Beaverdam...I don't want to hear a single captain who is winning the extra 5 year lottery tell me I should or shouldn't work any extra (outside of negotiations). I could fly an extra trip month for the the next 15 years and still have time left over in my makeup bank.
