Let's see, the difference in score was 14 points. The first touchdown came on a "fumble" (looked like the QB's arm was moving forward to me) recovered by CAL defense and another came on a punt return by DeSean Jackson. Neither of those would be considered OFFENSIVE scores.

That leaves 31 Tennessee points to 31 California points put up the OFFENSE.

Don't get me wrong, I know who won, and I'm not trying to rewrite history or play with statistics. My point is, I think Tennessee didn't do too bad a job of containing the Cal Offense. In fact, they did a very good job of containing Jackson after his 77-yard score.

It was painful to watch at times, but it was an exciting game.

31 points is containing an offense?

I guess it would be if you were Western Kentucky trying to contain Florida... But, the Vols ranked #15? C'mon.

His arm was moving forward, unfortunately for UT, the ball went backwards making it a lateral.

Don't have touches in front of me, but appeared that the 'containment' was more of Cals Offense doing other things. UT's D did OK, but some special players were on the field. One screen pass in the third quarter comes to mind.

I'm optimistic by what I saw of UT. Barring injuries, or run-ins with the law, might be a good year.
