727 S/Os were doing well with open time until the last few hours. I guess seeing all the DPs with Capts and FOs lined up and ready to go took it's toll...

Anyone volunteering to do MSP-AFW-SHV-SDF is a future Darwin winner.

I just looked at OT Firday evening and saw that all the DPs were gone. I thought, "Great we must have gotten through to the company".

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, EVERY ONE OF THE DPs WERE PICKED UP BY CAPTAINS.

Boys and Girls, if this is what this union has come to in the wake of AGE 60 and the FDA LOA, it is over.

Forget about some sophomoric list. What are you going to do? Get yourself fired? Get thrown in jail? Please the last thing we need are a few more idiots.

Something must change around hear before the wheels come completely off the wagon. For the good of all our collective futures, DW and all the MEC need to step down and let the phoenix rise from these ashes. We are as fractionalized as we could ever get. Without some credible leadership, the company will pull the rug out from under us in a very bad way.

DPs are trip the SIG has deemed unsafe for us to operate, even though they are legal by FAA and CBA standards. There may be multiple legs in the critical period, inappropriate use of RFOs, generally onerous pairing that may cause fatigue over time, and a long list of other characteristics that the SIG uses to analyse pairings.

Some of the trips, like the ones in practically all current bid packs, hardly need an explanation. Every now and again, the SIG needs to go out on a longer leash to convince us that a particular element of a trip simply should not be there. I've seen a few of those over the years.

The bottom line is, the SIG, is perhaps the one sub-group of the MEC that has only one true mission. That is the protect us. They earn their keep every month.

Getting the SIG some more teeth to bite back at the company was the one litmus test I used to vote for the CBA. I didn't have many gripes with the CBA, but the one thing I wanted was to give these guys a sling blade. I don't know if they really got what I hoped for them to get. But they deserve our support.

It's your money we are spending to have the SIG do their job. It only makes sense to follow their guidance.

Don't fly DPs. It is that simple.

I hope this helps.

[QUOTE=geauxfly;220578]FWIW...I'm a first year 727 S/O and I obviously flunked bidding 101. Last month, I put in a makeup bid without consulting the SIG notes (a mistake that won't happen again). I ended up with the DH MSP/AFW/SHV/SDF 2 day trip. After the award, a buddy of mine told me I picked up a DP and I realized my goof. I stayed up during midnight madness last night and got up again at 4:30 to rectify my error. I was able to trade my DP for another trip.

/QUOTE]

Similar thing happend to a good buddy who's a 727 captain. The DP list on the ALPA site had the 170 series posted together, followed by some comments. He didn't "read down" to see the OTHER pairings on the list. Like you, however, I believe he traded off that miserable trip into another miserable, but not disputed one.

Default The missing LABEL

Speaking of DP's......

I thought the greatest thing since sliced bread was when a few weeks ago the "DISP" label appeared next to the disputed pairings in open time. Within a couple of days the labels disappeared. Anyone have the skinny on why they were removed or when they might be coming back?

Don't know, but perhaps they were there just for secondary line construction.
