Conspiracy froths....
Let's go into the land of the theoretical:
Mmmm, that feels good...
OK: None of what I'm about to say is directly quoted from anything, it is purely based on what I remember being "said". If anyone has the actual statements the solidify or raise the BS flag...do respond with the facts and references.
Upon the Union recommendation that our CBA be approved, one of the items mentioned what the crown jewel scope our CBA contains.
Oddly enough, according to your Union now, our scope ain't so solid. Which one is it? If it is not solid, we were lied to about the CBA. If it is solid, we are currently being lied to.
Additionally, when our current CBA came out it was noted that future growth will be overseas.
Also, seems to me I read somewhere the HKG and CDG visit took place a while back...before the CBA was ratified. Why does this matter, well...is the following scenario too far fetched?
MGMT: "Ok guys, how about this, we'll agree to these scope demands of yours IF later, when we announce the FDAs, you back us up on this LOA which will reverse the CBA."
MEC: "Why would we want to do that? What is in it for us?"
MGMT: "Well, how about 777 rates at the 380 level?"
You fill in the rest.
Volume 2 of the story follows the information announce by the Memphis paper that FedEx will open a large sort facility in Cologne in the 2010 time frame. Let's connect some dots...LOA has a 2 year package...why? In actuality, if I go overseas I'm going to stay rather than train again in 2 years. Plus, why would the company want people shuffling aiframes every 2 years--that's a lot of costly training. Ok, 2010 minus 2 years equals 2008, hmmm...when will the 757 in CDG become operational? As another poster mentioned, Cologne has better weather, lower costs and other things that have made it desireable as a sort hub.
All right, back to reality...or is it......
