Chairman's Message

Not sure which is worse-- fear factor from the company or from my own NC/MEC. The emperor's new clothes (RLA) aren't enough, because his underwear seems to have too many embarrassing holes in strategic locations (STV, subsidizing company's FDA expenses, etc)
Sorry, can't change my vote from NO NO NO !.
Sorry, can't change my vote from NO NO NO !.
The company is playing this thing P-E-R-F-E-C-T-L-Y....they should be commended.
The union you pay your dues to on the other hand.....sad.

I'm so disgusted by the paternalistic, we-know-what's-good-for-you attitude from the 'leaders' of our Union, I want to puke.
"some that argue for rejection of the LOA either offer no “day after” plan or only vague references to the proposition that management will come running back to the bargaining table with cash."
Here's a day after plan for you, Dave. Vote this LOA down and show that we are not willing to accept dramatically substandard offers in times of record profits. If we're willing to bend over and take it prison style with the environment we are negotiating in presently, what possible hope will we have in the future?!
If the company wants to expand into these markets and wants the superior reliability we offer, they will do better. If not, let them work around us. Have you ever won a 'stare contest' in your life, or do you always blink?
A 'stagnant' domestic market will be 3% GDP growth this year. Since FedEx is a barometer of GDP, that equals 150 new pilots/year growth here by my math. Throw in a hundred or so retirements on top and in 10 years today's bottom dweller is halfway up the stack.
The benefit to this plan is I've at least taken a stand for something. Make that something that everyone involved has said, at one time or another, sucks. No thanks.
P.S. - I'm think we all know how you guys feel about this. No more friggin emails, special message lines or sky writing. Uncle, already...
P.P.S. - I voted no and I'm changing my vote to 'NO!'

I think Webb has earned a new nick name:
Slick Willy.
All he cares about is getting everything he can with his name on it approved. "See, my pilot group really liked me!!"
It will help him get into ALPA National.

We pay for our own foreign tax and the $2700 in housing allowance. Yet through tax equalization, the company can say they are paying for it...brilliant! I've posted on this subject umpteen times and no responses. The company and the MEC have got us believing this is a good deal and it's by far the most repulsive item on this LOA.

From DW message:
Some have taken the MEC’s comments regarding the proliferation of misleading and false information to mean that anyone who criticizes the LOA is suspect. That is absolutely not true and in every venue we have tried to make the distinction between honest debate and emotional rhetoric.
Sorry DW,
I was at the hub turn meeting when you stated that everyone in Subic was scared to support the LOA due to a "patriarchal" atmosphere that exists there. I listened at that meeting and was considering changing my vote from no to yes. It was your emotional rhetoric, in a verbal attack of the Subic Rep, that has kept me on the fence. You can can't take the high road if you have been on the muddy trail.

It seems that anyone who stands in opposition to this LOA is attacked, called radical, mocked etc.
And now I am stunned... DW actually calls the LOA "good".
I would have more respect if he just called it a piece of **** but said it was the best piece of **** he thought they could possibly get.
It is very substandard by any measure--period. To call it a "good LOA" is well.... let's just call it fraudulent.

Anyone else tired of being lectured and spoken down to by the Union leadership simply because we think this is an inferior LOA? It's like they all have this MEC secret decoder ring that they are not allowed to share with the membership; but they subtly refer to it when trying to get our vote.
"We'll improve this LOA during the next contract negotitions" GMAFB!!!!
Essentially, eat your sh!t sandwich for the next few years, by then I'll be gone into my National office and this thing can be somebody else's problem. No Dave...it's your sandwich, start chewing.
