I'm not a techno geek or gadget guy, but my iPhone isn't the just the best cell phone I've owned, its one of the best products I've ever purchased. Apple has done a bang up job not only with the bundled goodies, but with the ease everthing just "makes sense" and works like a champ. I haven't broken out the directions yet, but haven't needed them as everything is pretty much intuitive.

Favorite feature of mine is the email. I had a Cingular Pocket PC system, and never could get email with AOL to work. Web surfing was labored at best, and slllllllloooooooowwwwwww. This thing goes "ching" and I look down and my AOL email is right there waiting--looking exactly like it does on my home PC. Multiple accounts? No problem. You can set up as many inboxes as you have accounts--in about 60 seconds. I've done plenty of VIPs work so far on the internet, and while wireless internet connections are slightly faster in most places the Edge network ain't painfully slow.

Planning on getting one for wife and mom for Christmas.... No kidding--killer app.

Been doing all of this with a Treo for over 3 yrs now, been Windows based for a year now! Same stuff as you mentioned. In fact, many of my posts on this forum are made while sitting in the throne room! Just wish it had wifi - the next one I get will!

Sean,

I traded my Cingular treo 750 in for the Iphone. The treo doesn't even come close to the Iphone.

Take a look at the AT&T 8525. Currently Windows Mobile 5, upgradable to WM6 when it comes out 4th quarter. Supports AT&T's 3G network (as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, IR)... beats the pants off my old Treo 650 on Edge!

Plenty of 3rd party WM5/6 apps available (none for the iPhone), browser works well so far, slide out keyboard is very usable, camera (with flash) is decent. When it came down to it, the "Edge only" issue and no loading of 3rd party apps sunk the iPhone for me. Don't get me wrong... it's waaaaayyy cool!!! Buy hey... I've already got an iPod! Maybe I'll get an iPod Touch!

My Iphone is faster on edge, than my treo was on 3G.

I'm obviously not at FDX, but I've been looking seriously the last week or two at a smartphone and this thread seems like it has a wealth of information. I'm out of contract with ATT and spent an hour playing with the Treo 680/750, Blackjack and iPhone yesterday.

Can the iPhone open Word/Excel/.pdf documents? How is the reception & clarity of the actual telephone part of iPhone? It definitely has a slick interface and I LOVE the Safari browser and wifi access.

I enjoyed working with the Treo yesterday. They have a familiar interface and the 680 seemed to have decent download speeds of websites like PPW and FLiCA and I believe it is only EDGE, not 3G. ATT reps recommended against it though and were pushing the 750 instead.

Anybody ever use the Blackjack? It seems like the best bang-for-the-buck but online reviews say it drops calls often and I couldn't get it to access the web yesterday.

Sorry to sidetrack this thread, but I appreciate everyone's input!!!

Little bump here to find out if anyone has figured out how to get the blessed iPhone on the company wireless.
