It specifically says they can ONLY to NON-FDA domiciles.

I propose the MEC go back to the table with a fair and rational mindset and this time, go with the intent on representing us. Vote NO.
I concur. I was there and also heard this along with a crewmembers request to DW that if in fact this were the case the MEC should get that info out to the crew force. Now after reading the contract language in CBA 24 B.2 it does not apply to FDA's.

Well, pilots being what they are, we are all probably ready to sell our homes at the bottom of the housing market anyway! Buy high and sell low, right?

The $2000 figure was an average that was used knowing some pay more and some pay less. So the renters are still putting equity into your US home and you have the ability to live and experience a foreign culture for 2 yrs or so.

Not my words but could see how it makes sense...
Their assumption that you would be able to rent your house for the amount of your mortgage is a very bad assumption!

People build spec homes destined to be rentals from the beginning..........people don't build custom homes and rent them out.

What's that old saying........."Drive it like a rental"

Those seem like reasonable numbers. We just moved from CO to NC, 6 bdrm/5.5 bth - 5100 sqft of house (and 3.5 car garage worth of tools and toys!). We had just under 25,000 lbs. we're storing most of that in 3 storage units in NC right now, a 10X30, 15X20 and a conditioned 15X20. Thats running us about 5-6K a yr while we build our main house in NC (we live in the barn right - just under 900 sqft -good practice for FDA livin'! )

BTW - the mub crabs and chickens in MNL yesterday weren't that offensive, but we went over the airplane's 45min/day APU usage allotment!

Whaaat? Rent your house out for 2 years, and that rent money goes to pay, most likely, only PART of your mortgage. Then you still have to fork out several grand over the $2,700 HOA each month to rent a so-so place in HKG. The numbers just don't work, folks. I'm single, in my 50s, childless, and I can't afford this deal. VOTE NO.
