Just got the FedEx today! Heads still spinning but looking for some crash pad options moving in mid August.

Thanks

I didn't realize that we were hiring right now. Any specifics on how many from your class were hired? What is your class date?

First ... Welcome to FedEx.

If you get to Memphis between now and starting class, there is a "Crashpad Available" bulletin board in the crew locker room with many available listings. There are also notices on the bulletin boards in the "break rooms" during training.

FedEx ALPA negotiated a "crew" rate at Homestead Studio Suites. I "think" they provide free local calls, internet and maybe some sort of muffins/coffee breakfast. There is one near the airport (not a great neighborhood) and another one in Germantown (much better neighborhood). Call them directly for the rate (sorry, I haven't used them in a while and don't recall the rate?).

Prior military? There is Navy Millington approximately 20 miles north of Memphis but no formal "BOQ." Instead it's a "Navy Inn" which is sort of a hotel that charges the prevailing hotel rates ... kind of expensive by "BOQ" standards.

I've used Priceline.com with limited success when I needed a temporary place to stay in MEM.

Also ... there are casinos in Tunica, MS (about 25? miles south of MEM) that sometimes offer cheap hotel rates.

When does class start? I'm on vacation next month and my crashpad landlord says I can "sublet" my room for the month but, of course, it would just be for the month and it's probably more expensive than a newhire would desire (PM me if interested).

Hope this helps till you can find something more permanent.

Regards,

Mark

Dammnn Mayday....a MadDog left seater talking 'bout subletting a crashpad room while on vacation, to a newhire no less....

Does the room come with light bulbs and TP?? LOL

Just kidding, but you had to know you'd catch a spear or two

But it does beg the question? Is there a market for short-term sublet crashpad rooms in MEM...or Paris...or Hong Kong (ops wrong thread, sry)

Hey mayday, what size pants do you wear, maybe I could rent those for the month you are on vacation, unless you wear them with your flip flops.

Better find out if he goes 'commando' before you get in too deep.

Mark,

OK, you get points for being helpful, but you gotta admit the target was tooo big to pass up, especially with the history 'us captains' have...

No harm intended, hope none taken. But if your really pi$$ed, may I suggest pints at 20 paces at the Saucer on G-town parkway or the one downtown...you pick.
