South Haven to the 757 place is about 25 minutes. Not bad but it does get a little old for the drive home after the late sim or the drive there before the early one. Do the speed limit plenty of speed traps between 8PM and 5AM. Look at the extended stay America off Poplar for the 1st week or month if you dont have anything set up by then. I think they have a FDX rate, it is convenient to both locations where you will train, and has a kitchette.

I do like southaven for the sitting reserve crash pad plan.

I'd like to find out if anyone can give me some leads/advice on crashpads. I'll be looking for long term since I do not plan to move my family to Memphis anytime soon. I've checked out craigslist and there is not really much on there, and my sponsor also took some photos of a few flyers that he saw in the AOC. I'm also curious about how much of a hassle would it be to get a place in Southaven and have to drive over to the 757 training facility. Would a place on the East side make more sense? I'd certainly appreciate any crashpad information/advice you all can give. Thanks!!!!!
You will go the 757 facility on Hacks Cross for FTDs and Sims. Probably a total of 14 or 15 events in 4 to 5 weeks. The drive should not be at rush hour so it won't be that bad. If you really need to go to a FedEx facility to study, the "Guicci Building" is a short drive up Airways. I think they hold BI and 757 Ground School at this facility also.
You will be sitting reserve on the 757 for some time. Southaven is a very short and much safer drive to AOC. Makes going to work easy.

Sonny,

Congrats! You probably know where the 757 training is conducted (Hacks Cross I think?).

I've had crashpads in both Germantown and Southaven. Personally I liked Germantown a little bit better (I paid more for a nicer crashpad).

One of the things I liked better was I always felt like I was in a safe neighborhood (important in MEM) driving back and forth to Gtown in case I had car trouble. I like Southaven also but there are places enroute that I pray my (nicer than average) airport car doesn't have problems.

Congrats again on getting this REALLY GOOD JOB ...

MM

Sunny, how do you know you have the 757? Is that what you were offered as a condition of accepting a class date? Usually thats tied to a CGN slot if offered pre-BI.

When HR called she said that everyone in the FEB class is going to be MEM 757. It will certainly make selecting an airframe easy
