here is my problem..for those who were here...
contract....we r going to strike....company offers 200%...they win
postal contract....BC wants entire contract renegotiated....we lose 2 days of draft pay per month and get 2 additional days of work on our lines anyway( at straight pay)...they win
disputed pairings...they win(look at the bus bidpack)
FDA LOA..?
it is so hard to trust this crewforce and union..

Captain Mark, Both you and Prezbear make the same point about the postal contract. Perhaps you can enlighten me. I do remember an attempt to negotiate some work rules and everything falling apart. However, I'm not so sure about the extra two days of work. I have bidpacks dating back to 1991, and guess what, we worked the same number of days as today. Yes, there was a good bit of extra flying after the postal contract. It was absorbed by the extra hiring and advancement of the pilot group.
In 1995, I don't recall any strike threat. I believe there was a push for "work to rules," and no extra flying, nothing more. Yes, it failed miserably. We also had an extremely small membership. I contend it was less than 50%.
Regarding disputed pairings, you got me there.
As for this LOA, no matter how many squirts of perfume you spray, the floating turd still stinks...flush it for goodness sakes! (I apologize in advance for the "visuals" some of you may have experienced on that one)

all i was saying in my personal 13yr experience with this company is that we all are independant operators and end up screwing each other in the end...i hope it is different this time...and the strike threat(200%) was in the jim camp era ...and yes..the company proposed 2 extra days of flying at draft with unlimited drops in their offer...old news..sorry i brought it up...not voting for this LOA either..

Not to jump into your pi$$ing contest, but the company never offered 2 extra days at draft. They proposed 2 less min days off, and if certain criteria were met...draft pay. It was safe to say that with the less min days off they could schedule the extra work without meeting the critera...ergo more work at strait time pay.
The unlimited drops/trades is like we have now...limited. So it was a pure give back.
Although it was a while ago, I remember coming to the conclusion that I don't want to give up day's off. I can always put in for draft of M/U at strait time if I want.
I can't shake the feeling this LOA puts us in a similar quandary.

It's about quality of life fellas ---- folks that want to pick up trips at straight pay or draft, have at it --- as long as your are playing within the accepted rules (...and listening to the MEC regarding disputed pairings)
QOL is about having $$ and time to enjoy it.
