Thanks Jack, I don't care if STV is one month now, my personal choice is to still vote no...

[you're still talking about being stuck in a hotel in HKG for 13 to 15 days getting paid ONLY PER DIEM. That is still not acceptable!]

As opposed to 15 days in a crash pad in Germantown for us reserve pukes?
If they non-vol for a one month STV, I assume the bottom guys will be a reserve holders. Somehow, doing this once in a career just doesn't seem like a killer. There are a lot better reasons to not like this LOA than the possibility that you might get tapped for a one month STV.

Aeris, it isn't just once in a career, it will happen every 6 months. This LOA gives the company the ability imho to to this for ever by changing airplanes over and over.

hot tough do you think it will be to add an ailplane type after two years of the slots being unfilled because of this POS. That triggers another 2 years, then when they decide to remove the original AC type that triggers another 18 months.

The company can use this during contract talks to ensure the foreign freight keeps moving.

Still a great big NO for me

"As opposed to 15 days in a crash pad in Germantown for us reserve pukes?"

So instead of being gone from home days just to cover your reserve window you are gone all month. In return you get some per diem (which will surely be spent) and crash pad savings? If I pick up open time now (or bid C/O) and choose to be gone from home all month I get paid trip rig and per diem for every day I am away. Can you say double the size of your paycheck instead of getting normal BLG for being gone for a month? I guess I don't see your point here that this is somehow not a bad deal. Please enlighten me..

Comparing it to reserve where you are home for you min days off per the contract or saying once per career tells me you are missing something. You could easily do it 4 times per new FDA. And 3 times per FDA closing.

Thumbs down Still a No vote

I'm still voting no

STV..even if inversed for only a month, company can send you on a 28 - 35 day STV and only pay you BLG. My days off are mine to do and be where I please.

Maybe I am just not ready to accept any explanation for STV. I cannot understand the concept of being on a trip for an entire bid month at normal BLG. Don't you guys compare DAYS OFF and BLG when you look at a line and then match those to the days you need off and where you would rather layover?

I never intended to work here for free - some think it isn't so bad. So here it is - PM me and I will buy your wife a free round trip coach from USA to CDG if you PDO my entire bid month! Didn't think so!

I've been ****ed off at this LOA since the beginning but for me it was always the STV. The other issues were minor for the target audience. Let's not get ridiculous and make us pilots look like surgeons - we're not. If you don't realize that you are not a "special skill" for any company than you shouldn't be in this job in the first place (or put down the crack pipe). I'm actually pretty happy with the company on this. I think the rest of the LOA is reasonable. Forget the education money - it ain't going to happen. You've got a choice here - personally I live in San Diego and pay about $4500/month in a mortgage and love it - my choice entirely so I'm not so shocked by the housing.

Anyways I'm one of the guys that has been talking up a storm about how bad this LOA was with the old STV to everyone I knew. I wore my ALPA lanyard backwards, all that stuff. I'm still not happy with the MEC - it was this board and the ranting at meetings that made the Company change - don't see a lot of leadership from anyone on the NC. But as it stands now - I'll probably vote yes.

This FCIF change after the voting has opened seems odd to me. If the company deemed it necessary to send out the FCIF they should have attached a revised copy of the LOA along with it. Without a revised copy for us to read, (IMHO) one cannot read the contractual language and make a decision based upon the most current LOA. Eventhough someone says STV is only for 1 month....WHAT DOES THE CONTRACT SAY? Does the LOA have loop holes that the company can use to extent the 1 month to 3 months? WE DONT KNOW.....
