VOTE NO, so like many others who are junior in our seat, we don't get sent for a month every six(if they changed the loa).
Haywood,

You do realize that you can be inversed into SIBA right? Check out Section 25.W.1.

You might not like the idea of doing a bid period in Paris or Hong Kong, but there will probably be enough volunteers with the coach class tickets provided for dependents, so you won't have to.

They can do it, it will just cost twice as many crews as it would for STV manning.

Default Remember..

Remember, we are talking about pilots here. Scr3w your buddy for $5. As subic proved, guys will bid this.

I understand what prez is saying, but an STV is an STV is an STV. Senior guys don't give a squat since it won't affect them.

As someone who will be on the bottom end percentiles for a while, especially with age 60 BS, this STV can very easily reach out and grab me. I don't like that.

Leverage keeps getting mentioned. If this gets voted in, what leverage is there to reduce STV further?

Hire into the seats over there? I've never seen so much painstaking disbelief about hiring off the street straight into the mighty MD-11. It is laughable to think that someone who flew RJ's or mil might not be able to handle this mighty machine. It is a computer for heaven's sake! He11's bells, the folks having the most "trouble" in md-11 training are the old heads (but I digress).

Purple nuggets had a wakeup call when they found out they'd be in ANC (no offense) right of the bat. Wonder how many people would say no thanks if they had to spend their first 2 years in HKG?

FDX will target guys who would bid it...single guys/gals...we talk about the expat deal the company gives other employees with reguards to schooling...everyone who is being sent over there for FDX(lawyers/accountants)have no kids...fdx is not stupid!...ask some single commuter or military guys if they want to fly widebodies for FDX in HKG or 75s in CDG and see how long the line gets!

Prez, Yes I can be inversed into SIBA on a month by month basis, every month forever. The big difference is Fedex pays me from the moment I leave Mem until I get back, and with crew rest after Intl DH, I work for 10 days out of the 15.

If we sign this LOA, I get BLG + intl per-diem am gone for 28 days minimum. The company gets 15 work days out of me.

This LOA guts our current CBA rigs!

Vote NO

CaptainMark, since when did we become a union for the minority. Fedex targeted single and empty nesters with this LOA and our neg comm rolled over on the rest of us.

Prez,

I do know about siba, and like what the 11fo said, we get a MUCH better deal. Most importantly(not the pay) is that I get to come HOME on my days off. There is a protection with blg and min days off, where I can be home. My wife and kids can't and wouldn't come to visit me....3 days of flying coach, possibly during the school year, to come see me in a hotel, while I get worked over with two on one off, or however they decide to schedule it. I am ok with siba, not the stv. And I don't want anyone else to be subject to it, let alone myself.

I understand everyones frustration and dissapointment with the numbers associated with this LOA. However,I don't hear many people saying they don't think these slots won't go unfilled even if the LOA fails.
Just what do you propose the MEC do differently? (with respect to the LOA)

With that knowledege what do you suggest the leadership do? Recommend that nobody Bid.

The NC said the got the best deal they felt they could get ,......under the circumstances. The circumstances being the current contract allows the Company to open them....yeah I know STV isn't in the CBA.

And the best deal they could get has already been improved even though we have no "leverage".

What I expect the MEC to do is not sell out the junior members right under the CBA to get trip rig for days away from home like the senior members get. I say junior members because it is the F/O slots that will need to be STV'd.

And yes I will say it again I do not expect the F/O slots in HKG to get filled if this LOA passes or in CDG if this LOA fails.

Are you in the camp that invol STVs wont be needed? The company just wanted in there for fun? The MEC and the company agree invol STVs are unnecessary; if they are unnecessary then they can do it with SIBA at no cost.
