My hope is that people vote on this LOA based on its merits or lack there of, not because they want to send a message to the company or MEC. Stop the personal attacks on the MEC and NC, because in the long run, it only hurts us as a crew force. If you are unhappy with the MEC, run during the next elections, and then think about how you treated your MEC on this forum and how you will feel getting the same treatment because you can't make everyone happy all of the time. They(MEC) do a thankless job, and I for one, whether I agree with them all of the time or not, appreciate it. That being said, I will no longer post on this forum.
Pinseeker if your still reading theses posts and anyone else lurking, this is my take on the MEC, NC and its part in this LOA debacle. We could debate till the suns rises whether $2700 is enough or it should be in local currency, or whether 500 lbs goods move should more, but that not the point. The MEC never came to the membership to say they were in negotiation with the company about FDA's and STV's, let alone seeking input. The fact of any discussion about this was rumour until the LOA was announced. The fact that it is a POS (in my mind) is secondary to the fact that the union did all this behind closed doors. No one asked us if we thought the money was enough (we know a percentage will consider no amount enough ) No known opener, just a "take or leave it" from both the company and union. Add to it all the, not so subtle, protection the company wanted in case will failed to bid the FDA's and it should be no surprise that this pilot force sees this LOA as a major step backwards.

Others picked up on the STV thing before I did. I stopped at the no school money and considered it DOA from my prospective. The more I though about the STV, even at 30 days, let alone 90, the greater I feel the company has made a strong grab at diluting hard won benefits regarding time away from home vs pay. If you volunteer or are forced into a STV, either way you are giving your time away for per diem only. That's not right. If FedEx needs to staff overseas it has a well established tool for doing so, SIBA.

Lets let the chips fall where they will, and see what happens after the vote.

If a *****'n pilot is a happy one, then a lot of you must be the happiest pilots in the world. If it is so much better everywhere else, then just leave. Let some other less deserving pilot have your lousy job so you can go to Cathy or some other place where life is so much better. Good luck in the future with the grass always being greener on the other side.

BC ... is that you?
