Default NAC and Amerijet merger??

So lots of rumors going around in Hawaii and MIA that NAC and Amerijet will merge....

umm... they both announced stopping all hiring and canceled classes that were already on the calendar with people in them on the same day.
coincidences like that just don't happen in the universe....

NAC got a new COO in Nov... if you have been in the airline business any length of time, you know when they make Exec management changes, big changes follow..
The new guy was COO at Skywest..
So why does a guy with 25 years airline experience go to a place like NAC? He could get a job at any major..

Something is going on at both companies....

He probably went to NAC because no other major was hiring a COO.

Although both NAC and Skywest fly twin engine jets, that is where the similarities end. ACMI and a regional airline are vastly different animals.

....
I'm not saying a merger will or will not happen. I wouldn't read too deeply into why an exec winds up at one place or another. Legacy and reputation is a huge factor for those guys. That also means they wind up on the outs when internal, political winds change. He could be riding a high risk, high reward gambit. Without getting into his head, drinking at his bars and golfing with his friends, we don't know.

Reminds me of the old cartoon. Two corpse standing up, leaning on each other. Holding each other up.

The rumor I heard was he was supposed to replace the CEO, but Betsy pulled some power play and is still in charge at least for now. As for the rumored merger, I haven't heard anything. However, we did get an email today that 22 pilots will be furloughed June 1st.

Yes & No. They both fly under contract for somebody else in most cases. Isn't Mesa running 737 Cargo now for example..... so, not all that incompatible after all.
