The company should not have the OPTION of converting your awarded reserve line against your will but they do, they should not have the OPTION of extending you in the field for days on end, but they do. Gang, this isn't Kunsan or a flipping aircraft carrier, it's two locations that are full of tourists year round. People pay lots of money to travel to, and stay in both places. If you don't want to go, you ain't gonna go. That said, there are plenty of other steaming turds to find offensive in this LOA, I just don't think this SVT crap is something you should get your panties in a wad over. Sometimes, I think that if there was a 1% chance that you could get sent to Fiji for 3 months to lay on the beach and b@ng Cindy Crawford we'd get the " She too old", "Fiji has bugs", "I don't like her mole", " I have to pay for a first class upgrade for my wife to come over and watch me b@ng Cindy Crawford, come on Fred, ****?" So, vote the thing down....but for something else.........
How did the company get the right to convert a reserve line?

How did the company get the right to extend you in the field?

Are you getting the point now?

Concessionary negotiations get you into this mess. By the way, your two examples mentioned above do not come close to being sent overseas agianst your will for three months while your wife is having an operation, or your mother is grieving your father's death, or your daughter is having your first grandchild, or your oldest son is graduating from high school or college, or playing in the special olympics. Get the picture?

You have got to think about the big picture here. It's not a roll of the dice as to whether the company will need to use it, its the fact that they can if we let this pass.

Well if Capt Mark's source says it's true, it must be so.
We all know mgmt never spreads false rumors. We need to change our minds and vote yes to the LOA. NOT! Anyway, that is their right under the CBA. It will go junior and new hire. If that's the product they want, let them have it. If they want some experience over there, they need to come back with a better offer. I don't care what BC or TonyC say about SVT "not really going to happen". It is in the LOA and the company put it in for a reason and will use it to their advantage. As for the scope argument, I'm not buying that either. Wasn't it DW and BC that touted our scope clause only a few months ago? The precedent in FDAs has already been established with Subic. One final thought, I hope that DW and BC read the Pro Standards portion of the last message line. We do need the keep this discussion respectful. I have witnessed both of those individuals become short tempered and rude at recent hub turn meetings when anyone dared challenge their opinion.

Default Hong Kong Schools

An article in the International Herald Tribune was stating how few spots were available in the international schools. Expats were having a very hard time finding vacancies for their children. Winnie Chan a human resource manager at FedEx stated that Fed Ex bought debentures at the schools to guarantee spots for children of FedEx employees. This is standard operating procedure for most companies. My question is, I am I a FedEx employee or not. Should I not be eligible for this benefit. It would have been nice if the union had at least made mention of this practice as they have done so much research on housing, education, and helath care. Glad to know the union was really working hard on this LOA.

Default Its not that bad...

If I hear "Its not that bad" in AOC or on the Bus one more time I'll go postal. And this STV thing "you probably won't get..."

I been trying to tell them that my x-girlfriend has herpes and SHE says that "Its not that bad" either...and "I probably won't get it."

There are a lot of guys that don't read any of this and are eating up what the union is shoveling...this is better than what we have and we can fight for more later...insanity!

BWP...bummed

Fixed...you know if the coach would have put me in we could have won state...

Hey...

I don't have a dog in this fight (I'm busy "syncronizing global commerce" or whatever it says on the side of the plane this week), but let me see if I get this right...

Your hub wil be in CAN, but you'll all be living (at the company's/PRC's bequest) in HKG. So I assume you'll report for "duty" at some bus stop in HKG and then take a three hour bus/van/rickshaw ride up to CAN to begin your flying day which will include 1.5 hours or so of preflight prep before blockout. Will you even have enough duty to do anything over 8 hours, or will it all be regional? Or will there be a "flexible" duty for HKG based guys?

I'm wondering how the company will open Hong Kong as a Domicile if the LOA is voted down, since at that point the long bus ride to the aircraft would be in violation of the current CBA. It seemed as though this one one of the concessions that they need. Could they do this without the LOA?

Just needs SIG approval.

"Section 8 B. 1. b. Surface transportation greater than 2 hours must be approved by the SIG."
