So, they don't THINK it will happen. Great. If they are wrong, what then?
A big fat shrug and a sorry isn't going to really make a GD difference when a guy ships out and waves bye to the family.
SIBA usually goes senior, but every so often (last fall for the captains) someone gets inversed into it. If that is happening, I will just about guarantee that HKG will be back filled with STV. The question really becomes, do I feel lucky and how many "hostages" are acceptable.

If the LOA goes down nothing prevents the company from offering voluntary 3 month assignments to FDA with all the "benefits" of STV. Fear of lossing 3 months on the beach with cindy is no reason to vote yes. How many junior guys STVed will be enough for you to say you were wrong?

Giv'em the chance...they will
AA... do you actually think that nobody will ever have to go to one of these FDAs against their will? Like I've said before, the number of adventure seekers or upgrade grabbers will run out very quickly. Once that pool is empty...this LOA clears the Company in hot to send pilots overseas against their will. If it didn't impact other pilots, I'd tell you I disagree but shrug my shoulders and tell you to have a nice life. How can anybody on the seniority list sign off on this inferior LOA knowing there is the possibility for anybody to have to go overseas for 3 months against their will. And we won't even get started on the inferior....non-existent...housing allowance or uber-unknown medical/health issues. LOA equals Lots of Apathy

Thanks for the intel Capt Mark. Staffing the FDA's per the current agreement is not a bad thing. It leaves it up to an individual's choice. To bad they had the STD contract language, $2700 a month is better than nothing for those that chose to go overseas. But I can't vote for a deal with the involuntary manning clause in it.

What Could Happen?
1. The LOA Passes; If a pilot bids the FDA they accept all of the ramifications, don't think that the pilot group or NC will be saving your bacon in the next contract negotiations.
2.a. The LOA Fails; The Company returns with a better offer and it gets passed on the next attempt.
2.b. The LOA Fails; The Company offers nothing and waits to see how the pilot group bids. If a pilot bids the FDA they accept all of the ramifications, don't think that the pilot group or NC will be saving your bacon in the next contract negotiations.
