Duty period starts at 0130 LBT. Notification window begins at 0000 (1+30 prior). Why the hair splitting?

You have to quit drinking by 1730 the day before.

and... you have 15 minutes to return the call. The trip must have a show time in your R period. They have pulled some tricks like changing the show time, so always compare the trip to the original (if it is a bid pack pairing) if the show time is close to your start time. If you are on RA you are not required to answer your phone once the clock strikes noon, even though you still have duty time left. All of this is in the reserve section of the CBA.

......And your duty day STARTS at 0130. A senior Capt on the Boeing tried to tell me you could sit RA for 11 hrs, 59 mins (in theory), get called out on reserve and work up to 16 hours (in a contingency). I asked him if he had ever heard of the Whitlow Interpretation.

He told me not to mix up my former pax airline with FedEx.

It's truly amazing how little guys know the rules or the contract around here......

Section 25 M. f. A reserve pilot who departs his domicile to operate a domestic duty period shall be scheduled for release to a legal rest period not later than 4 hours after the end of his RP.

Obviously, the guy was full of it.
