Tony,
Congratulations on your new position. I know you'll help make a difference and at the same time, start the reclaimation process that's needed here at FedEx ALPA.
Again, Congratulations, and best of luck.

Y'all should know that Gooch121 also stepped up to the plate volunteering to serve. It takes courage to step up and put it on the line to serve your fellow pilots, and I'm glad he "climbed out of his clam bed" to make his voice heard. I appreciate what he had to say, and I know his message has already had a positive effect on how we'll be doing business. (Read the Vice-Chairman's message today, for starters.) Kudos to him.
Today was very busy, drinking from the proverbial firehose to get up to speed on issues we'll be tackling in the immediate future. The celebration was over before the coffee was even cold. I'm looking forward to getting involved and ensuring our Block has the voice we deserve.
The downside of being an MEC Member is that I'm no longer the "private citizen" that can shoot off my mouth anytime I please. While I try to be careful in everything I post here anyway, I'll now have to be even more so. Since it's now "TonyC the MEC Member," my participation in the "political" discussions must be severely curtailed. That's going to be a tough thing for me to do, and I'm sure my fingers will twitch over the keyboard, but it's for a good cause. Even when I first ran the idea of running for Block Rep past my wife, her first question was, "Would that mean you'd spend less time on the Forums?" I'll still be reading, but the time I would have been posting will be spent doing the job that's more important now, representing our Block.
In any event, my contact information is available in VIPS, and I've got a new ALPA e-mail address, and I encourage you to contact me anytime about anything. That goes especially for Block 5, but I'd be glad to chew the fat with other guys as well.
Please, please, please -- take the time to stay informed. Don't get spun up on the Internet rumors -- call your Block Rep!
In unity.

??? You know something we don't? Wally's e-mail didn't really say much. He said some wouldn't like it. Well, hell, some wouldn't be happy with the full "High-level executive package" mentioned earlier in one of these threads. Sounds like you're getting spun up a little early.

Perhaps we should all sing Kumbaya! OK, Tony, first thing, stand up to DW! Maybe, at the next MEC meeting when he orders Dom for everyone, tell him you want a Miller Lite! You know, man of the people kind of thing to do!

Congratulations? You have my condolences, Tony.
Just kidding. I spent four years doing ALPA work at my previous carrier, including over two years as an LEC Officer and MEC member. It will be some of the most frustrating work you'll ever do, but also some of the most rewarding. Good luck, Tony, and I'm sure you'll do a great job for your pilots.
