I certainly agree. In this case, going back for more wasn't even an option.
What people probably don't understand about this is that it was not an ordinary contract negotiation. It came out of nowhere and was done in a few days. The company was offering a chance to address some of the things that the union had been telling them needed to be improved in order to improve recruiting and retention. They told the ExCo when they offered this opportunity that the company would make their offer, the ExCo could make their offer, and if they could quickly hash out the differences and come to an agreement, great. If not, that was that, The End. There would be no protracted negotiations. So it was clear when the agreement was presented to us that we could accept it and take those gains or reject it and continue with the status quo until our amendable date and probably several years beyond.

I'd say that was a win-win for everyone involved. It also gives you a much better starting position when you actually go through Sec 6.

Are you really telling me, knowing what you now know about how contract negotiations go under ATSG, that given the opportunity to improve your situation before your amendable date, you would simply reject it out of hand because what you could get would not be enough to satisfy somebody else? Does our 401(k) not look much more like those at Kalitta and Atlas now? (We get cash over cap also. Do they? I have not seen any details beyond what's in their APC summary, so I really don't know the answer to that.) Don't you think you at Omni can reasonably ask for that and expect to get it now that we have it? It is a significant improvement over what we had in our 2021 agreement, which was already better than what either you or ATI have now from your 2018 agreements. There's your pattern - go bargain on it.
We tried that way back in 2016. It was not successful.

that failure had more to do with two distinct separate pilot unions too.... you had management and the other pilots (by the national union screwing over their pilots rather than lose members and dues). You need a single union for all three groups before you do it.... like the pinnacle seniority list merger.
ATI did not want a 50k pay raise along with everything they are hoping for in QOL items ABX has, and they want now,
because they might give up 20K in
homebasing.

ABX is not home based. We are domiciled in CVG. If you're on reserve without an assignment (which is not really likely anymore), you must be able to get to the airport within two hours starting at 0301 on day 1. If you live three hours away, I suppose that means you could start driving at 0100.[/size]

There is no 8 on/7 off schedule per se. Schedules are built around a single block of days off, two blocks of days off, and three blocks of days off. The lengths of those blocks will vary, and my memory says the contractual minimum is three. You can most likely get what you want on reserve, except maybe in December. That's when the people who can hold flying lines but can't get a line with Christmas off bid the reserve lines that have Christmas off.

I had the same question too. You have to get a crash pad or pay for hotels. Apparantly ABX has a discount which dosen't sound too bad. Around $70 per night if I'm not mistaken.

ABX pilots are domiciled in CVG. That means that when you're in CVG without an assignment, you're on your own. R1s (airport reserve) are currently done from the CVG Airport Holiday Inn. That's the only time the company pays for a hotel in CVG.

The rates in the APC chart are correct for 2024. The informational verbiage at the top of the page is applying the 3% and 4% increases over the next two years to the 2nd and 3rd year FO pay steps. You can take the APC rate chart and apply increases of 3%, 4%, 3%, 3%, 3%, and 3% to see the rates over the next six years.

I just slept at DHL. There’s sleeping rooms, showers, and a cafeteria. They’ll show you all this during indoc. Otherwise you call the holiday inn for the crew rate which was closer to $80 when I left.
