thanks.
You only receive perdiem credit when you are out of domicile, so no
perdiem sitting reserve unless you are assigned a trip. As we hired more
regional pilots, I saw more new hires schlepping food with them.
There really are no cooking facilities at the hotels we stay at except microwaves.
Most crewmembers just grab a sandwich in the afternoon on day trips. Longer layovers
you can always wander around and find a grocery store and be creative, or head out for
some suds and grub.

How is ILN for indoc and initial? I heard it's farm country land. Do they put you up in decent hotels? Decent food or grocery options? thanks.

Hotel is ok. I got stuck in one without a kitchenette, but I hear they try to stick you in a hotel with one.

Food options are terrible, even with a car. God the food in Wilmington is terrible. There's an Aldi's next to the hotels, Walmart/Kroger over a mile away.

Drive if you can! Having a car here makes life a whole lot easier.

When I was in initial training, I rented a car for the three-ish weeks I was there, largely because back then, we weren't getting hotel and per diem. I spent most of December in a small, poorly-heated room. The price was not outrageous at the time. Don't know what it might be like today.

Do line holders have the option with years of senority to pick day trips or out and backs or is it just random? My goal would be to eventually limit the backside of the clock flying once I get older for better health and sleep.

I got a pretty good laugh out of this one. If you want day flying/better health/sleep...and a jet way, you need to re-set your sights on another segment of the airline industry. At ABX, and I believe this will go well with other ACMI groups, you will not get day-only flying. Regardless of seniority. The flying is spread among various lines of time, and that type of work is never guaranteed. It's inevitable that you will fly some back-side of the clock and at times across more time zones than one cares to count.

I undesrand but what if picking up somebody else flights you fly more than 65 hrs that month? Do they pay you OT? At what rate?
Thanks

What kind of travel benefit do you have working as a pilot at ABX for you and your immediate family? National and/or international. TIA

Ah no...they are already paying both of you for the 65hrs. If
you are trying to build time or get out of being stuck in
a hotel or crash pad and volunteer to work someones trips, that's
to your advantage not the company's. The only way you get paid extra
is bidding OT on your days off or actually working your assigned days and
Happen to go over 65 hrs.

Anyone know the plans on if we're actually getting the second 10 Amazon planes if we meet performance/when that would happen next year?
