Toxic - Yes. The place has been for a long time, but tracking better than worse.
Not sure about the acquisition of those a/c mentioned above. True about the 2-200's (DHL a/c formerly GTI formerly ABX), the 1st hitting the deck hopefully late this month with the 2nd to shortly to follow. 3-300's...just rumor at this point.
With that said, ABX is hiring and upgrading, so possibly some version of truth in rumors? Captain seat is down to 5yrs.

DHL debacle in 2009... Airline downsized from 115 aircraft and close to 1000 pilots to 15 aircraft and 190 pilots. The last class of Captains that are finishing IOE as we speak are 22yrs seniority. As many of the previous posts say....there is a proffer out for 4 Captain's. These will most likely be all 2016 hires. So 5 yrs for upgrade going forward.

How does that happen?
1. DHL buys Airborne Express, the #3 express delivery carrier behind UPS and FedEx.
2. DHL destroys the business.
3. DHL sets ABX Air adrift, near insolvency, to make their own way as an ACMI company.
4. ABX Air furloughs several hundred pilots, shrinking to fewer than 200.
5. There is no hiring for several years.
On the current seniority list, dates of hire jump from 2000 to 2016. There is nobody in between.
That's how that happens.

Airborne Freight Company started over 75 yrs ago...Airborne Express the airline side has been around over 40 yrs. If you are looking at this board with plans on interviewing it would behoove you to do some research and learn something about the company prior to being asked what you know about it. It's been all over the internet for years.

I don’t take any advice from those who use the word behoove, lest they drag me out to the smokepit. Isn’t asking questions on the dedicated thread doing research, albeit doing it in a shallow way? Looks to me like I shouldn’t 100% discount ABX from where I send an app to if there’s a legitimate reason for the upgrade time.
But jokes aside, thanks for the info guys.
